Been trying to come up with a reason for friendlies with mostly reserves being behind closed doors but failed miserably. Anyone?

Fabio Aurelio made his return to action as Liverpool Reserves beat Crewe Alexandra Reserves 2-1 at the Academy this afternoon.

The Brazilian, who had not featured since injuring his Achilles tendon against PSV in April, played 45 minutes of the friendly alongside a host of first-teamers.

 

Goals from Xabi Alonso and Ray Putterill either side of the break secured victory in front of the watching Rafa Benitez.

Saves them organising stewards, ticketing and all that nonsense for the hundred or so peopel that might show up - can all be done at fairly short notice, etc.
