Citeh should run away from this guy screaming and with their hands over their ears. This can only end badly.

Some on here were singing his praises and claiming it would be a great move for us to have him as owner. Once they'd made their minds up, anyone who said anything against him was accused of racism! They know who they are!

I stand by that judgement too, he'd be great for Liverpool.

Yes I can see this has affected Mr. Shinawatra a lot...

A source close to the deal said it was billionaire Thaksin who paid an astounding HK$210 million for the 5,100 sq ft townhouse, referred to as House 1 at Severn 8, The Peak.

An arrest warrant has issued for him now. Does this mean the UK authorities have to extradite him ?

Can't see any happy ending in this for Citeh.

Thai court orders Thaksin arrest

Mr Thaksin has remained abroad since last year's bloodless coup

Thailand's Supreme Court has issued an arrest warrant for ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on corruption charges.

The ruling came after Mr Thaksin and his wife failed to attend court in the Thai capital, Bangkok.

The court was to hear the first of a series of corruption cases being brought against the former leader.

Mr Thaksin, who has recently bought Manchester City football club, was ousted by a military coup last year.

2nd set of warrants, including the best name ever...

Thaksin hit by new arrest warrant

Mr Thaksin's lawyer says he may return to Thailand after elections

A second set of arrest warrants has been issued in Thailand for the former PM Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife.

The warrants were issued in relation to a police inquiry into the couple's alleged violations of stock-trading laws, investigators said.

Last month, a court issued warrants for the couple over corruption allegations relating to a land sale.

Mr Thaksin has lived abroad since he was deposed a year ago. He has since bought Manchester City football club.

Fears for his life

"The court approved an arrest warrant," Pornchai Asavawattanaporn of the Department of Special Investigations (DSI) said.

The DSI is investigating allegations that Mr Thaksin and his wife Pojaman had concealed their assets in a firm, SC Assets Co Ltd.

The department said it had sought the warrant as the couple had repeatedly failed to appear in Bangkok to hear the charges.

The couple were served with their first arrest warrant last month by the Supreme Court after failing to appear to hear the first in a series of corruption cases being brought against them.

In that case, Mr Thaksin is accused of abusing his power while in office, by helping his wife buy land from a state agency at a favourable price.

Mr Thaksin and his family have denied all allegations of corruption against them, and say the charges are politically motivated.

His lawyer Noppadol Pattama told the BBC recently that Mr Thaksin feared his life would be in danger if he returned to Thailand.

"He would consider going back after the next Thailand election and with the return of full democracy," Mr Pattama said.

The regime in Thailand said - about 2 mo ago - that they couldn't guarantee his safety in Thailand. The UK is unlikely to extradite under those circumstances

I got that from the guardian. About 2 mo ago

If selling state assets to family members at favourable prices is a criminal offence then the whole Thatcher government would be in jail.

bingo.

Plus the UK has become the residence of choice for the discerning asset-stripping despots of the world.

If the Govt wanted to wave goodbye to huge (taxable) sums of ill-gotten gains, it would already have deported the half-dozen Russian ex-pats living here and spunking their oil & gas money all over the UK. Don't think it will lift a finger to get rid of anyone who's decided to live here, and is worth over a billion dollars.
