I used to like Bolton before this clunt made them into wimbledon mkII.

Diouf didn't help, be at least they gave us £5m for him.

Hope this doesn't mean I have to start hating Man City.

Can't see the City fans taking to his brand of 'football' if you can call it that.

Poor old Didi.

Just can't escape those beans on toast.

I met the Bolton team yesterday as I was getting off the train at Euston they were getting on a train back to the NW.... Allardyce really does have a f***ing massive head... I also shook Sammy Lee's hand and told him he was a Liverpool legend :D

Allardyce resigns as Bolton boss

Sam Allardyce has resigned as manager of Bolton with immediate effect.

He has been linked with the manager's role at Manchester City and refused to attend the post-match press conference after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

He said: "This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever made but it's time for a new exciting era for Bolton under different leadership."

Chairman Phil Gartside added: "I have reluctantly accepted the decision. His reasons are private, we respect that."

More to follow.

I'm sure there's a reason why you didn't push Diouf onto the tracks, but for the life of me I can't think what it might be.

He's injured so probably wasn't there?

Sammy Lee has to be a good bet for the Bolton job now.

And to think I laughed when he got injured. Little did I know it would come back to haunt me with this missed opportunity. I am fortune's fool.

he is a good manager, fact.

easily the best english manager at the moment

would be interesting to see if he can move to the next level if he has more money to spend

odds on Bolton to be relegated within 2 seasons?

aye he's a top manager - theres no denying it. theres a few clubs set to come into money imminently in the EPL so it'll be interesting to see where he ends up. i honestly think he'll step up to the next level but if he's got a hell of a lot to do if he heads to somewhere like city. roeder may well be fairly concerned today as well!

Are you implying he's replacing Rafa :cold:

I don't think he is a great manager, I think he is one of the best English managers there is, but I don't believe that is a high compliment. I would prefer Roy Evans. Alladyce plays lowest common denominator football, the problems with the likes of Paul Jewell is that they try to play football.

Will be interesting to see where he goes. If he goes to City as suggested yesterday, it is, IMO, a sideways move, the best City can realistically hope for is 5th place, or maybe do an Everton and sneak a 4th place if one of the big four are distracted, which is precisely the level Bolton are at now.

Newcastle could possibly be a top 4 club again, but it will rely on one of the current top 4 imploding, only Arsenal give the impression that they might do that in the near future, but it would have to be spectacular to fall that far. Would be interesting to see how the geordies (who famously love a striker !!) would cope with sam's route one sneaky fouling tactics, I doubt he would be very popular unless they won a trophy in their first season, and alladyce has no record of even coming close to winning trophies.

With immediate effect?!

Wow, that's fecking amazing. What a gobsh*te. He says he thinks it's in everyones best interest for a change and then goes and does this with 2 games left & them fighting for UEFA qualification.

I now want them to fail, even if it means Everton getting in, and for their fans to hunt him & his son down and burn 'em alive.

Down within 2 years, down again like Leeds. Stubbs & McAteer are the dream-team partnership to ensure this.

there has to be something in the Ranson / Allardyce link methinks

he'll have a couple of months off and be unvieled as City manager at the end of June is my bet
