You've got to love the timing of this from the press.

Jerzy Dudek will quit Liverpool this summer after claiming he is fed up of being treated like "a slave".

The club's 2005 Champions League hero has played only a handful of games since rival goalkeeper Jose Reina arrived at Anfield two summers ago and is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old Poland international, a target for Wolfsburg and former club Feyenoord, said: "I have to finally tell Rafa I'm leaving because maybe he's not aware of it.

"I will remember Liverpool fondly as a success but not the situation I've found myself in. When a player knows he is a slave, he'll never give his employer his heart."

Dudek has warned his fellow goalkeepers off signing for Liverpool, saying manager Rafael Benitez will treat them in exactly the same way.

"To get a good keeper, they'd have to spend £3 million to £4 million and then Rafa would have to tell that keeper: 'You're going to sit on the bench'.

"But no respected keeper would come under those terms and that's why they prefer to keep me," he told reporters

I am amazed dudek has had the cheek to even step foot outside his house after his two performances against arsenal, he should have stayed in, took his money for doing f'ck all and begged his agent to destory every video of the two arsenal games in order to get a move and stop the f'ckin bizzies investigating him for crimes against goalkeeping

what the f*** is 'ireland.com'?

who cares?

Website of the Irish Times.

It's on Sky Sports as well.

I bet Jerzy will be along shortly to deny these comments.

He has played like a w***** aswell. People were too quick to excuse his performances against Arsenal because he 'hadn't played regularly' but he was way below the standard you'd expect of a professional. Mike Hooper came in for the odd game and did a better job, most backup goalkeepers do a decent job but everything went right through Dudek like he couldn't be arsed.

It's been copied from The S*n by all the other media outlets so not worth the paper it's written on.

Anyhow, he should not be wasting time doing petty interviews...... there's dishes that need washing ;)

Judging by his last performances he'll probably drop them....

Hooperman used to get reserve games though, there is a big difference. Dudek rarely gets a game in the ressies, so it's double difficult. It's the same with Robbie, people complain he doesn't look fit and presume that's because he's past it, it's just as much to do with the fact he rarely gets competetive playing time imo.

Good point...we need a reserve reserve team

Didn't he come out with the "slave" quotes a while back? Before the transfer window as I recall, yet he chose not to leave...

Oh and Andy, give it a f***in' rest. Not all journalists are liars, in the same way that not all forum posters are pathetic wind-up merchants who frequently get out of their depth

or at least one where our squad players can play, as effectively our reserves are our U-20's.

How anyone can claim to be a slave when they get that many 1000s of pounds a week is beyond me.

And if he really is warning other keepers off signing - he should be sat before a disciplinary tribunal and be fined until his wallet bleeds.

So you're saying that this and all other reports are 100% truthful then?

Whatever you want to call 'spin' or the particular point the Journo/Editor/paper/Media Group are trying to drive that day/week/month/ever - it's certainly not the truth.
