Romario Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Agreed. Momo will have a hard job getting back in. If he really only costs 10 mill next year we're laughing. He's a really bright player and I love how he releases it so early.
Earl Hafler Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 The difference in our ball retention and our attacking play with Mascherano and not Sissoko in the side is amazing. Also, he gets stuck in.
McBain Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Had a far better game than Xabi. Those two will be awesome once Alonso finds his form
Owen1978 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Cant see momo getting back in to be honest if Masch continues this form
IgPig Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Cannot believe we got him tbh. Last 2 games he has been outstanding.
Guest sha_kop Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Cant see momo getting back in to be honest if Masch continues this formlets sell momo..lol
DazzlaJ Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 You's can all feck off. He's my bird I saw him first!
mattster Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Momo is a bright prospect, and I'm not slagging him, here, but one of Alonso or Momo will make way for Mascherano in the summer and as Alonso is a lot more accomplished, I think we'll take the 15mill Juventus (or whoever) are prepared to pay for Momo. Also, I think Mascherano's arrival will allow Benitez to finally bring Gerrard back into the middle of the park, thus leaving him to concentrate on sorting the wings out, because we all know neither Gonzalez or Pennant are world class.
Kahnee Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 It's like having a younger mini me Didi. Really is, isn't he
Nerik Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Great game alright tonight. I love the way he can shift body angle and head off on a run in a direction that his marker does not expect.
spencer Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 He's hardly played this season and that's only his fourth game for us and he looks a star already. A 'monster' indeed.

He has too much potential.

Can't agree with any of that. I've never had a problem with Gerrard on the right. He's not playing as a winger hugging the line. He's got a free role which suits him totally. We played like this when attacking which suits Gerrard down to a tee..... -----------KUYT---CROUCHRIISE/GONZO-------------------GERRARDAURIELLO---ALONSO---------FINNAN-------------------MASCH-----------AGGER--CARRA----------------REINA
alias75 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Having 2 holding type midfielders also allows our full backs to get forward more knowing theres 2 players there (Alonso and Mascherano) that are great at covering the spaces they leave. Momo is a different type of defensive midfielder in that he presses the ball a lot even when its in the oppositions defensive half. Playing Mascherano gives someone like Gerrard much more freedom and the width is given from the full backs.
Zoob Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I love Momo, but the fact that mascherano is pretty much on a par with him in terms of winning the ball, and then nearly always finds a team mate - often very swiftly - makes a huge difference to our play.
Cheesecake Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) Mascherano looks a fantastic player. Was thinking tonight how we got Agger last January and he hardly played for the rest of that season but looks like a first name on the teamsheet type now. Mascherano already looks the same. Great that we have used the January window to recruit 2 top class players when normally 'big' signings dont happen at that time. We bedded in Agger in the 2nd half of last season (as in settled at the club rather than playing lots of games) and now Mascherano this. Considering we also got Arbeloa it looks like very good business for us. Mascherano will fast become a 'must start' type of player - and he'll already be settled by the time the new season kicks off. Awesome. Sorry to the Appy Ammers like but f*** yous!.... Edited April 3, 2007 by DPD1973

D.Boon Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Great player. Its easy playing centre half with him and Alonso sat in front of you. Im very excited about how good he could be.
