Very close the the best player I ever saw, him and Ardiles were fantastic together. I know a lad is one of his best mates, he reckons the change in him when he got involved with Eillen drury was scary.Reckons he's a real nice fella who somehow got brainwashed and his entire personality changed.

That chip against Watford is different class!

as was the goal he scored against us, when we were celebrating our 1982 league title

as was a volley he scored against the sh1thouses at Greykull

as was a goal he scored against Forrest? were Jennings launched it, someone flicked it on, and Hoddle volleyed a screamer in. Never touched the ground at all.

as was the goal he scored on his debut for England against Bulgaria.

My favourite non Liverpool player in the Eighties.

Edit - just seen you tube and some of them are their on their.

My brother played under him when he was a manager - for all his mad preachy s****, he came across as an absolute gent. Was really good to my brother when he got badly injured and career was in jeopardy. Have a lot of time for Hoddle because of that.

He was as close as England came to producing a player that resembled one of those great Brazil midfielders of the 70's and 80's.

That effort at the end where he runs from his own half, accelarated and then rounds the keeper with ease is fantastic.

Sheer class...amazing to think he was seen as a 'luxury' player by the England managers at the time!

And as for Micky Hazard's hair.....timeless ;)
