There was clips of both of them on The Premiership Years last night and both could thread balls through the eye of a needle for a striker, score great goals, do one-off things most others cant do, but who would you prefer ?

I was watching it last night as well.

I've gone for Bergkamp because he had a longer impact at Arsenal then Cantona did at United, and was (when he could drive or get the train) more effective in Europe in then Cantona.

Bergkamp is Arsenal's most important player in their recent history, the same can't be said about Cantona and United.

I went for marginally Bergkamp, because though I think he was a better player, I don't think he had the influence on a club/team that Cantona did.

I genuinely thought Bergkamp was the better player. He scored goals Cantona could only dream of.

Bergkamp. His technique, vision and close control was simply outstanding. I recall Fowler saying Evans wanted to sign him at one point but didn't get the funds for it. Would have been a duo out of this world.

I think Bergkamp had the edge in terms of natural ability but Cantona unquestionably had the bigger impact on English football. He won the title each year he was here (including 91-2 at Leeds) except for 94-5 when he missed half the season through suspension.

You could make the case though that the quality of the league at that time was pretty mediocre, as evidenced by the record of our clubs in Europe during that period.

The answer is Cantona but I'm going to vote Bergkamp because Cantona is a manc t***

Is undoubtedly the right answer, in fact I wouldn't vote for Cantona if Bergkamp was withdrawn from the poll.

The c*nt.

and now the record of our clubs in Europe is fairly mediocre too?

I thought he might be pointing out that now the record of our clubs in Europe is good and Utd are top of the league.

Bergkamp is the finest foreign talent to play in this country. In my opinion he is the reason Arsenal became a force again.

Cantona can f*** off and do another s*** painting

sums up my thoughts on it. bergkamp's one of the most naturally and technically gifted players i think i've ever seen. cantona dragged the mancs along by sheer force of personality. a sh*thouse arrogant personality like, but he had the bigger impact, at least domestically.

Always felt Cantona was hugely over-rated, there's nothing I can think of that I saw him do that another player, like Hoddle for example, couldn't do. He was just in the right place at the right time, TV and Sky's "Premiership" wanted a character and Cantona delivered.

Bergkamp however, was a total wonder - there's things he did with the ball and goals scored that I could never imagine replicated. On his day, he was the best in the world, something Cantona could never ever claim.

Interesting to note their reputation away from their clubs, in there home countries & Internationlly

Bergkamp is usually revered wherever you go, he is viewed as one of the best produced by his country by his fellow countrymen.

Cantona is only revered by the Mancs, end of.
