there is a board meeting scheduled for today apparently, to discuss Gillet

but because he has the interests of the club at heart, he will no doubt turn down the extra money on offer because Dubai is unquestionably better for LFC

some say that's no big deal given the amount he's already making but still, until you've been in his shoes it's hard to know what you'd do

if he changes his mind and wants the extra money, whilst personally being furious, I will not be able to condemn him - it's his choice

He won't change his mind I don't believe. Despite his many detractors here and elsewhere he will always do what he has always tried to do - what's right for the club first and foremost.

And when he does and signs up with DIC turning down around £15m at least extra he would have made, I hope all those who have knocked him and Parry over the years on here will be big enough to admit they did a good and right job.

It makes sense to discuss it no matter who the bidder is.

I still think the DIC deal will go through but to not listen to the proposal would be foolish. Gillet may have re-evaluated the original offer taken the clubs concerns on board and be ready to put a far better proposal together (for the shareholders and the club) than DIC have.

You can only sell the club once so you need to make sure you do it right.

I'd f*cking condemn him. Put yourself in his shoes - I know what I'd do...

Having said that I know he'll come good.

PS. is the 5-a-side looking like happening at all at any stage in the future?

I will admit just that, with reservations and caveats that I will keep to myself in the spirit of not wanting to spoil the moment

what do you think you would do in his position?

I reckon we will start in 2 weeks, when I get back from Bulgaria - 3 maximum, sorry for the messing

I thought Carl was arranging a regular game at the Pitz on Scotty RD

No probs mate. All my good fitness work went t*ts up over Christmas anyway. Went all inclusive to Jamaica for 2 weeks and indulged in just about everything under the sun so I won't be properly fit again until then anyway...:)

never criticise in a man until you have a walked a mile in his shoes.

you can then say what you want, you're a mile away from him and you've got his shoes.

How do you know its unquestionably better?

Are you aware of all the ins and outs of both offers, and the private conversations the board have made?

Or perhaps you're just a bit upset that you perceive DIC to be absolutely loaded and want all of their cash? Is it perhaps possible you are simply knee jerking and making stupid statements you can't back up?

I have always strongly favoured DIC because there is a hidden aspect to their investment -

'Brand Dubai' which would be promoted through the success of the club, at what I would consider any price

i.e. if Rafa wants to spend £50mil onplayers I think he'd get it

and for another reason, they are big supporters of the club

so maybe 'unquestionably' is too strong, but it looks very, very much as if their offer was better, and guess what? Moores and parry repeated the sam thing until a few days ago - the only extra benefit of Gillet is to the shareholders

- the only extra benefit of Gillet is to the shareholders

is it not a fiduciary duty of a Chairman/Board of Directors of a plc to consider that?

While we don't know the ins and outs of both deals the way the respective parties have carried themselves couldn't be more different.

The way DIC went about their business seemed exemplary from the outside. They appeared to do everything by the book were happy to release statements explaining their intentions throughout the period of due dilligence and constantly emphasised their intention to maintain the traditions of the club.

Gillette has come in trampled over all that to the point it seems he's done little more than check the books actually had the name Liverpool in them and tried to buy the club by offering pretty shiny things to the directors, no word on his views of the clubs traditions, no addresses to the supporters nothing. Just a monkey see monkey want attitude.

While the board have to look at things deeper thn first impressions as a supporter I know who I'd rather run the club based on the way they have behaved.
