Agree with that but we both know that Rafa will want a holding player in there and Guthrie hasn't really done that for the reserves.

I love an injury crisis I must admit. It's so 2004/5. I love watching Rafa furiously improvise.

i'm not sure why peltier is not getting a look in for tonight. he's the more accomplished player in that position, and has had more first team action than guthrie, who is more of attacking midfielder anyway.

The only reason people could have for picking Guthrie is that they hope he'll play a blinder and be some regular first teamer from then on. Hardly anybody has seen enough of him to suggest he could a job as well as any of the centre-backs let alone a better one. We're not playing in a Carling Cup game, it's a difficult premiership game against a much improved P'mouth

Reading the Zenden thread Rafa suggests Hyypia playing the holding roll. Personally I can't get my head around that one at all.

Just can't see it at all to be honest.

Hyppia in the holding role will probably me more of a five man defence than it will a four man midfield, really.

 

That said the prospect of Big Sami taking the ball and going on a storming run through the centre deffo has a nice ring to it.
