Benitez Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 (edited) When the prem is letting you down (which happens a lot ) nothing like La Liga to brighten up a s*** day. Looks like a decent battle this season. Real Madrid - Racing on now (1-0 Real Madrid after 5 mins, Ramos) Seville - Valencia, on later - which should be a right good un! Edited November 18, 2006 by Benitez
Benitez Posted November 18, 2006 Author Posted November 18, 2006 3-0 now to Real Madrid. They have played some good football. Reyes and Diarra with the other goals.
Andy @ Allerton Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Who's on now? Whoever it is - it's 2-0
DonRafa Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Fantastic play by MoM Dani Alves. His crossing is fecin superb
Michael Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Fantastic play by MoM Dani Alves. His crossing is fecin superb Rub it in why don'tcha?
Ste M Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Alves was class last night it has to be said, created at least one goal and some of his crossing was outstanding.
Barnes' left foot Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Alves at rightback or right midfield? He played at rightback behind Adriano, but to be honest he was up and down the right-hand side. Very good player.
Benitez Posted November 19, 2006 Author Posted November 19, 2006 (edited) Alves at rightback or right midfield? both, at the same time David Silva got sent off early on for Valencia, and Quique Sanchez didn't feel the need to do anything about it, so Alves and Adriano just had a clear run for the rest of the game. Another double-header on Sky tonight. Mallorca V Barcelona Deportivo v Celta And may I be the first (and probably last to say) Vamos Mallorca Another thing bout Alves fromt that game. Just a couple minutes in he straight-arms David Silva across the face Absolutely walloped him big style! So then, couple minutes later Silva tries to get retaliation with a crude challenge, and gets booked. Then shortly after, swipes him with his elbow (didn't look half as bad as the straight-arm!), and gets a straight red card. Silva looks a good young player, but he is hot headed, and dives like an old pro. Edited November 19, 2006 by Benitez
Sion Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 f*** me Alves is good, we're f***ing stubborn b******s, he's 10 times the player pennant is.
Benitez Posted November 19, 2006 Author Posted November 19, 2006 kin ell! Calm down there, you'll do yourself some damange Fec that, I just seen the WORST DIVE EVER. Lupo, Depor centre half, 6'4" built like a brick chithouse, it'd take a tank to floor him. Goes up for a corner, and with no one touching him he leaps like a fecin salmon, bout 6 foot in the air, arms flailing. Ref sends him off
Guest Barcamania Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 got to say Riki is a fantastic player. Better than any attacking playet at LFC, may be even with Kuyt
Sion Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 (edited) got to say Riki is a fantastic player.Better than any attacking playet at LFC Probably because we don't have any playets. Edited November 19, 2006 by Sion
Cam Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 both, at the same time Wow, that's the kind of player we need. If only he could play both left and right wing at the same time I'd say "bust the bank".

Refs should book players more often when they cheat - 'simulation' is the one thing that lets La Liga down, and it really gets on my wick. I hate that its creeping more and more into the game over here too.

Figaro Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Was at the Sevilla game - and got rat arsed despues
Benitez Posted November 20, 2006 Author Posted November 20, 2006 would alves definitely transition to the english game though? gonzalez set la liga on fire last season too. I'd still have my doubts 'bout him at full back, being as he's 3 ft tall and spends most of his time trying to attack anyway But the quality of the guys crossing, stick him at right mid, and even without too many tricks he'd get quality balls into the area each game. A lot of his crosses came from pretty deep rather than him getting to the goal line. This game on Saturday tho, he was helped by the fact that Valencia had no left wing/midfield for most of the game, so he had a clear run to get forward all the time. So he did! But, as he was priced at £14 mill last summer or whatever it was, and will probably be priced higher next summer, we can dream on. I guess he'll end up with one of the big clubs in Spain at some point soon.
Swagger Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I don't think he's a bad right back, but I agree that his crossing is first class. Shame Rafa did not have the funds for him in the summer. With Sevilla doing really well, I doubt he'll be going anywhere soon, and if he will, he'll probably be outside our budget. There are always players you regret not signing, but this lad is special, and would have been ideal for us. Very clear to see why Rafa was so eager to sign him.

Baptista told him lots of negative things about Madrid and will probably put him off the PL as well. His agent was being tapped up by Benítez and someone from Milan.
Benzo-13 Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 If he goes to Serie A he's plain daft. That league is nowhere near what it was. If a sh**house team like Roma can win 7-0 and the likes of Bari, Genoa, Napoli and Juve are in Serie B.
