suprised theres no stand alone thread for his brief appearance today...

Really stood out, showed great energy with fantastic vision for the pass to bellamy....also has a mean left foot.

Im liking the look of him, not afriad to get stuck in either..

possibilities.....

Was expecting him to hold back a tad coming off a knock and his unfortunate reputation of being injury prone but well pleased to say he got right in. Would like to see more of him at left back in time to come.

maybe thats why he is so injury prone, loved his energy...might need to learn to hold off just a little, or i can see him continuing to pick up regular injuries.

Looks a very accomplished player. Very skilful and comfortable with the ball.

Agreed. Looks liek he can do both LB and LM if needed. Tidy on the ball as well. This must be the first time in years where every player in the team an hold his own on the ball.

May I also add, good movement. He gave his teammates options

You've put your finger on some vague excitement I had looking at that to-day; I think that's it.

We've got a lot of good ball players. Aurelio can really hold on to the ball and do the right thing. Great first touch and good passer. No doubt he'll score a few this season. Still looking forward to his free kicks from the edge of the area.

Just read my drunken post. oops. Every player looked like they can make something happen. Ya know. Speedy, Pennant, Sissoko with his tackling, Kewell we know, Aggar tidy on the ball, Bellamy, crouch etc. Their was not one player in the first half (some of which are second string) that you thought " just get rid....give it to so and so quickly" It's wonderful. We look incredibly balanced all over and players like Pennant who I thought might get a bit nervous have just taken to the pass and move like they were always meant to be playing in such a team.

Great stuff.

Thats the significant bit. Every player Rafa has brought in recently have those attributes.

Quality player but there's never been any doubt about that. The only question is whether he stays fit or not which I'm not getting my hopes up about. If he does though, he'll be in the side more often than not.

Even though Cudicini gathered his freekick easily it showed that he has a few tricks up his sleeve and will surprise a keeper at some stag this season.

I think we should thereby christen him First Brazilian, much like First Lady, only more skillful on the ball. (oooerrr)

Unlucky not to get his goal either.

I tell you what though, this 'injury-prone' reputation seems to be based on a leg-break causing him to miss a season a few years ago, besides that he played almost all of valencias games from what i've read?

looks a lot less stereotypically brasilian as well, if you know what i mean. seemed to settle straight into the pace of the game and doesn't look like a stiff breeze would blow him over which many south americans have been prone to when arriving in england. perhaps it's something to do with his being half-italian.

Even if you take away a season for his leg break, he still only played 80-odd games for Valencia and he was there for 5-6 years.
