Momo Sissoko

The amount of work he puts in is fantastic. His passing isn't brilliant, it's not bad either, but the amount of times he wins the ball and stops the opposition from playing is unbelievable. He reminds me of Gattuso. He's brilliant.

Yup but he needs to build his allround game and help the other midfielders. Early on though he was scaring the life out of Essien, closing him down all over the pitch. He was one of the main reasons why we had such a good spell in the 1st half. Chelsea couldn't get out of their own half.

Was anybody else sort of hoping that the shocking pitch yesterday would be exactly out of phase with and thereby would somehow cancel out the natural bumpiness he seems to impart on his passes?

His passes do have a bumpiness to them even on a flat pitch don't they...

Not impressed with him yesterday.

As someone has said, he ran a lot and, oh yeh, he ran a lot.

The game cried out for Didi Hamann. It was a great pity he wasn't available. Sissoko has much to learn and the Kaiser is the one to give him that education while he watches at close quarters like the bench.

Don't get me wrong, he is a great prospect but he was at sea yesterday.

.... and with all that sand on the pitch it was the closest Sissoko has got to the British seaside since he signed !! :D

Never fails to amaze me the plaudits Sissoko gets.

I just dont see the fuss, i see him running around a lot but in terms of his effectiveness and influence on a game i just dont get it.

How any one can say he was impressive yesterday is beyond me.

He is young though so ...............

As everyone says he is a great prospect, but at the moment I would stick him on the bench and play Didi with Kewell, Alonso and Gerrard in front of him. This would free up Alonso to get forward more and make better use of his awareness and passing ability in the opposition half.

You never know with Fowler up front we might even score some goals.

Something else I've noticed... The nonspatial continuum in which events occur (more commonly referred to as time) and the ratio between the condition of being apart in space (also known as distance), invested by Sissoko is particularly impressive.

Hang on, that just means he runs a lot.

His breaking up of play, his engine and enthusiasm are tremendous.

Sadly his passing ability is Championship level...

That's it in a nutshell. Too often he wins the ball only to lose it again. Footie and long distance running are different things though.

See what the people here criticising are failing to understand is that a player of his type doesn't need to be able to pass the ball like Alonso.

He is a pressuriser, an annoyer, a spoiler who does a tremendous amount of running and stops the opposition from playing. Every great team needs one of those, and look around the world game you'll see all the top teams have one.

I lost count of the number of times a Chelsea player would get the ball and be instantly pressed by Sissoko on Sunday - that really does go unappreciated a lot of the time.

Was Viera ever a great passer of the ball? Not in particular; Makalele is tidy but doesn't try anything spectacular - its not his job.

Some people expect every player to be able to do everything; unfortunately there's only one Steven Gerrard - everyone else has limitations. As long as Sissoko learns to release the ball early and pass it simply, he'll become a vital member of the Rafalution...

I'm not expecting him to pass like Alonso. I know he's a ballwinner. I'm asking him NOT to lose possession so often immediately after winning the ball. He can pass sideways or backwards as long as it's to a team mate. I am not expecting him to perform defence-splitting passes.
