I still reckon Chiesa was a decent punt even though it didn't work out. We've never had a 6th striker that wasn't a kid, he was cheap & we should recoup our money when we sell him. He's only got so much stick as we didn't make other signings we probably needed to. 

Looks like the idea for next season is not to have a 6th striker anyway - upgrade Nunez and have Frimpong cover Mo's position.

For 6 months yeah, was because we'd planned to sign Diaz to replace Origi (who was out of contract) in the summer but moved it forward to the January 'cos someone else (Spurs?) were in for him.

Sounds like a token "he can go to Real on a free in 4 years" joke, but you'd think part of that pitch would have to be the path for him to move on at some point.

That, or just tell him that City are gonna get relegated any day now.

Don't get this post. You make it sound like we're only signing players 'cos they're looking to leave. It's mostly 'cos Slot's had a year to look at the squad and decided there's 4 or 5 he doesn't want to work with and need upgrading. That's a good thing, right?

Yeah it's a positive thing innit? We don't need to massively inflate the squad size either. Just need to get lads in he fancies.  That requires selling the lads he doesn't. That's good.

Very much doubt it. We're pretty obviously pressing on with trying to buy players early - would be surprised if the net spend is anywhere near even this summer, like it wasn't two summers ago when we overhauled the midfield.

Yup. The squad size is about right at the moment - but it needs to be players that Slot trusts.
