Well, its a battle of 2 mid-table teams - 9th in the conference vs 8th in the Premier League. We played these once before and needed a replay to beat them - will we need one this time round ?

Mansfield have only played 2 games since December 12th as 2 of their games were called off. However, their most recent game was New Year's Day and they won 3-0 away from home with the fella below getting a goal.

They've a 6'5" defender called Exodus Geohaghon. Yep, Exodus ! He initially joined them on loan for 3 months with a fans group funding his wages (see below). He was then signed permanently for £5,000.

There's an interesting back story to this club. The fans have set up an organisation called "The 12th Stag".

Fans donate to the fund to help the purchase of new players. Here is there 'Mission Statement';

The 12th Stag has aims and ambitions revolving around the Mansfield Town playing budget

and will offer financial support to the club, in order to help the owners to continue

to fund our pursuit of getting League Football back to Field Mill.

It's basically, a hassle free anonymous way of donating money to our club which

could ultimately make those ambitions a reality, so don't delay donate now.

They've a 6'0" striker called Matt Green who has scored 22 in 36 games. He started out at Cardiff in 2007 but had to

move on because of the strikers ahead of him in the pecking order were only Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Robbie Fowler

The 12th Stag contributed £2,000 to his purchase and their biggest contribution was

£7,000 towards the wages of Big Exodus for his loan spell.

Here is another example;

The 12th Stag have donated £4,000 towards the wages of striker Matt Rhead, who recently signed for us until the end of the season.

After discussions with the manager, it was decided that 12th Stag would donate the money to free up funds in Paul Cox’s playing budget for future transfers.

Speaking to mansfieldtown.net, Cox said: “I’d like to thank the 12th Stag for this latest contribution.

“The help from sources such as this is very useful at this stage of the season,” he added. '

Similar to us, they've had a rotten time with ownership. One potential purchaser in 2008 publicly stated that if he

got control, he would rename them "Harchester United" after the fictional team in Sky's Dream Team in

order to thrust the club into the national spotlight.

Its not a bad little stadium. It seats 7,574 people. Its traditional name is Field Mill but is known as One Call Stadium for sponsorship purposes.

However, you have to wonder what state the pitch will be in.

Lucas, Agger, Gerrard and Suarez shouldn't be anywhere near this place.

Pepe

Wisdom Coates Carra Johnson

Allen Sahin Shelvey

Downing Sturridge Assaidi

Get Johnson out as well, put Downing in there and put in Suso perhaps.

Superb research, Rory.

Just a bit of colour to a team most of us know nothing about. Their recent history is interesting though I suppose it might not be too disimiliar to most at that level as funds are scarce and clubs battle from month to month with limited budgets.
