Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 (edited) There is no point going into statistics about these, they have been rubbish this season and can barely keep a clean sheet. However, since coming back Redknapp's got them grinding out some performances and results, some early traction that is getting some points on the board. He's been back for 5 games and doubled their points tally from 5 to 10 with a record of W1, D2, L2. The games they have lost have been by the odd goal so they are a bit tighter as a unit. Redknapp seems to have settled on a few players but some places are still up for grabs. Given that he is playing at home, I wouldn't expect him to sacrifice his 'good' players for work-horses so I think we could see 4 attacking players in Taarabt, SWP, Mackie and Ciise. If one is to fall out, perhaps it could be SWP for Faurlin but I'd expect at least 3 attacking players to play. Green** Fabio Nelson* Hill Traore Taarabt Granero M'bia Wright-Phillips Mackie Cisse*1st time Nelson has not started under Redknapp vs WBA**Maybe not after this though even if he was being leaned into Linked due to file size Others that could come in are Derry in midfield, Faurlin in midfield, Hoillett upfront/wide. I doubt Bosingwa will figure.Park Ji-Sung, Kieron Dyer, Zamora & Andy Johnson wont be back. I'd expect Rodgers to go there with our normal set up. Their center half pairing has a combined age of 69, and whilst they have tightened up recently, both Sterling and Suarez are always on the move and will keep their legs working. Furthermore, there is no settled partnership with the full-backs so there is potential down the channels, somewhere whereour attack does look to exploit. Just look at the goal conceded against Newcastle, when the ball is played Ameobi, he would have been offside by 2 yards as the QPR defence held its line across the 18 yard box, but Ryan Nelson inexplicably falls 3 yards behind them and plays him on. That said, fabulous finish from Ameobi but its an example of bad defending that has plagued them this season. They'll come out and play a bit I would expect so we need to come out and play and try exploit spaces they leave cause that defence is there to be got at with - oh, and Rob Green too. A strange stat is that since coming back to the Premier League, not 1 player in their squad has scored over 10 Premier League goals. That said, we shipped bloody 3 in 12 mins last season to them ! drdooom Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 There is no point going into statistics about these, they have been rubbish this season and can barely keep a clean sheet. You have to be more specific, this applies to both teams.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 Starting this before the match before it has even kicked off. Terrible decision. I was working on that post and was gonna post AFTER the Stoke game but the missus had to go to hospital (pregnancy related) so as I was going with her I decided to post it. Missing the Stoke game as I type this though looks like its no bad thing.

Cam Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 No way are we leaving Loftus Road with 3 points. One at the absolute best. My fear? CARNAGE!
RafaShanks Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Dreading this game. Atter the result tonight, so am I. Harry fecking Redknapp.
épieur Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 We'll win this at a canter. We don't have inflated confidence to ruin it for us now. Back on the wheel of "now we'll show them" before resting on our laurels again.
Nebraska Red Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Dreading this game. It's hard not to dread every game at the moment. You have no idea which team will show up. Our only hope is that QPR do a Fulham and offer nothing going forward. At least it's on Sunday and I can look forward to some NFL games as soon as it's finished.
