Ombudsam Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Didn't realise when he was only 27 when he had to quit. Never saw him play but if he was as good as everyone says then that's pretty upsetting
Falconhoof Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Remember watching that goal from a tight angle at the European championships. Him, gullit, Koeman. What a side.
Shirohana Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Remember watching that goal from a tight angle at the European championships. Him, gullit, Koeman. What a side. And Rijkaard.
Falconhoof Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 And Rijkaard. yes indeed, great side throughout. Fair to say that Gullit was the stand out player. Probably as good as Barnes in his pomp.
Murphman Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 And Rijkaard. The triumvirate, Koeman was a journeyman in comparison. That TLM is such a knob.....
Stevie H Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 koeman was underrated because that holy trinity was so good. he scored more than a goal every three games throughout his career. from centre back the vast majority of his career too. amazing player.
Falconhoof Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 The triumvirate, Koeman was a journeyman in comparison. That TLM is such a knob..... get fecked you scrote, and have a merry christmas Jan Molby says Koeman was the best passer of the ball from deep positions and the one he tried to be like.
Benzo-13 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Didn't realise when he was only 27 when he had to quit. Never saw him play but if he was as good as everyone says then that's pretty upsettingItalian hatchet defenders. Did the same to Maradona.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I only remember 1 player from Holland's Euro 88 team - Wim bloody Kieft, that and a dirty horrible volley from Koeman that he smashed into the ground as an assist.
Ombudsam Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 Italian hatchet defenders. Did the same to Maradona. Did they genuinely kick him out of football or was it a different type of injury
Gerrardrules Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Van Bastens farewell at San Siro and Capello's tears is a moment in football I will never forget. San Marco's career was ruined by loads of unnecessary operations on his ankle. Ironic part of it was that the problems started coz of a stupid and unnecessary tackle by himself.Best natural striker Holland ever had. Him and Bergkamp were a dream duo who only played together at one major tournament in Sweden in 1992.
doug_mac Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 a killer in front of goal, buried everything that came his way his hat trick against england at euro 88 was class
surf Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 my favourite van basten goal, against germany in '88. 2 minutes before FT to send us to the finalhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pL1KVRLFjQ0
Nerik Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Didn't realise when he was only 27 when he had to quit. Never saw him play but if he was as good as everyone says then that's pretty upsetting He played his last game (the 1993 CL final) aged 28. He was born in October 1964. Still a very early retirement for such a talent. Never scored a goal in the WC finals. His farewell here
Rimbeux Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Did they genuinely kick him out of football or was it a different type of injury A thousand cutting kicks to the achillies, they brought in the tackle from behind rule as a direct response
Ombudsam Posted December 25, 2012 Author Posted December 25, 2012 A thousand cutting kicks to the achillies, they brought in the tackle from behind rule as a direct response So Van Basten directly stripped English football of it's best weapon. Well he and this thread can f*ck off then
Rimbeux Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 scholes still gets away with itCan't believe that even after he confessed in retirement to doing people deliberately he still gets any license.
John am Rhein Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Didn't realise when he was only 27 when he had to quit. Never saw him play but if he was as good as everyone says then that's pretty upsetting he was good but he had to be stopped
Earl Hafler Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Can't believe that even after he confessed in retirement to doing people deliberately he still gets any license. ‘Of course I can tackle,’ he said. ‘There’s plenty of evidence of me being able to tackle. ‘I was just getting people back. If someone got me early in the game, it was always in the back of my mind that I needed to get them back. I didn’t always do it on purpose. Some of it was just bad timing.’ Scholes claimed he received more bookings towards the end of his playing days because of his reputation and insisted his record was nothing out of the ordinary. His record might have have been nothing out of the ordinary because he was cautioned far less than he should have been
fred milne Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 my favourite van basten goal, against germany in '88. 2 minutes before FT to send us to the finalHe had some great battles with Kohler over the years.
