Arsenal Flew To Norwich!

Arsenal blasted for chartering jet for 115-mile trip

Environmental groups have been up in arms at the Gunners' decision to fly from Luton airport to Norwich rather than drive the two hour 23 minute trip.

Arsenal's training ground in London Colney is just 115 miles from Norwich's Carrow Road Stadium, more than half of which is on motorways or dual carriageways.

Friends of the Earth spokesperson Jennifer Parkhouse was outraged.

"It is absolutely absurd," she said.

Seems perfectly reasonable to fly.

One of the main areas we can make headway in fighting global warming is reducing air traffic, which is a major factor.

People with too much money jetting when they could take the train in just over 2 hours should be first in line of wasteful excesses society as a whole need to cut down on.

Flying is often cheaper than the train, requires subsidy and additional taxes to make it a contest, planes are at a basic level cheaper to run, and looking at it, it will be the people with more money taking the train.

Norwich is a horrendous drive, even though it's not far from London. Done it enough times. Once took me 10 hours to get from SE London to Norwich. Those single carriageways are no joke once clogged, adding in the Blackwall Tunnel and Dartford Crossing closures.

Anyway, away from the most boring post in history, it's still rather ridiculous.

I did the trip from London just the other week for the 5-2 win. You're right about the single carriageways....but 10 hours?? What were you travelling in? A pedalo? :D

Basically, there was an accident near Elveden on the single carriageway.

Then there was a fire near the Dartford crossing-so they closed it.

Then a truck tried to enter the Blackwall Tunnel due to the above, was obviously too f***ing big and blocked it.

The perfect f***ing storm,it was.

Have done it in under 2 hours before, mind.

Norwich is boss if you know where to go, and a damn good student town.Has the best Belgian beer pub I've ever seen and one of the best real ale pubs in the country according to CAMRA. Plenty to do there.

I was out until 5am after our game with them. Had a great night out.
