While I was unsure about Stevie taking the armband off Sami way back when (seemed to me to be part of a contract deal rather than on merit), no one can deny what he has achieved for this club.

 

On that note - has there ever been a better skipper? One man club, come up through the ranks, wins games on his own etc

 

And equally, who have been the worst?

 

Also, can someone put my mind to rest on something - did Konchesky once get handed the arm band? I'm sure he didn't, but after joking about it last night I now have a nagging doubt

Emlyn Hughes had a pretty good haul from '74 to '78 too. 2 League Championships, 2 European Cups, 1 FA Cup. 1 UEFA Cup.

Once thing I never understand - why is it sometimes - or maybe it's a thing of the past - one player can be team captain and one club captain? Used to read that about players like Bryan Robson.
