We can create chances at a high tempo when we need to, sure. But we can't seem to control possession for a full 90 minutes and are prone to simple defending errors. Work to do but then we knew this was going to be a work in progress.

He's chronic, seriously. He's alright when we're dominating but put him under any pressure and he falls to pieces.

Honestly, that's a bit of an exaggeration - he's not THAT bad. The problem is both CBs are very similar - go to ground easily, hoof the ball, nervous in possession.

He is just so thick. Anyone remember a couple of years ago when we played Villa (I think) he was brought on last few mins (again I think) to help shut up shop then in last minute he just ran up to Milner on edge of box and just booted him right in shin and give them a free kick on edge of box. That challenge sums up Skrtel.

we need to start attacking and defending as a unit.

 

We need to start retaining the ball abit longer than we do, not rushing our play so much, working it from one side of the pitch to the other, encouraging a defence that likes to sit far too deep to come further forward as a unit. Start getting used to being encamped in the oppositions half. Then we can work on getting crosses in and start making use of andy carrol's strength and ability to head the ball.

 

At present, defence, midfield, forwards too far apart. If we want stretch the play we need players who are fast, willing runners and can happily cover miles. carrol isn't, carra isn't, and i think its not really lucas, charlie adam's cup of tea either.
