I have it on very good authority that the strangest thing happened at the end of the transfer window.

Coates was being looked after by a very shady representative. Apparently this representative was demanding that the club pay him, in person, 4.5 million pounds for the rights to transfer Coates to us.

We refused. The agent was livid and Coates cut him loose.

He sent a gun to the club with the warning that if we ever come to sign somebody from that region, we would be in with a problem.

Just telling you what I heard...

Mad this - mad enough to be true!

I reckon Comolli looks like an evil matermind though, the gangster would end up being lowered into a pool of sharks or strapped to a piece of wood with a buzz saw about to cut him in half whilst our DOF laughs maniacally in the background.

He must be at home right now trying to go about his gangster business armed with just a bullet.

Haha beat me to it!

Imagine the United States trying to threaten Iraq - "We've sent you a nuclear weapon. Take this as a warning!'

On the bright side, at least the 'Maybe he held a gun to his head' post in the Stoke match thread now makes sense to me.

haha, quite. i thought the preferred method of intimidation was to send a bullet in the post rather than the gun itself.
