Trophies or legend- wait for it...

With Torres doubts and the constant chat of cesc at arsenal what is the thought process for players?

Shearer will be a legend but has an empty trophy list.

Ibrahimovic has a great trophy list buy will any club remember him forever?

Gerrard is a legend whether he wins the league or not.

Cesc has won not a lot but is a legend at arsenal.

Well Torres left his club because they were unable to compete, to come here and win the Champions League.

Torres left because of the pressure he was under at atl madrid. I could probably see how the same pressure has built up here. But Chelsea arrghhhhhhhh

Partly. He left to win trophies and we haven't done it.

u make it seem like if he stays he wont win anything with us,we aren't f***in sunderland,we will win trophies again but it will take time to rebuild.i guess he wants a (perceived) short cut to trophies.chelsea aren't a team that look like they will win much in the near future either.they aint winning the champs league this season,no chance of the league,it makes f*** all sense to me tbh but f*** it.

Shearer won a Premier League title.

But I get the point. Valid argument. I'd rather be a legend than have a lot of trophies. Especially at Liverpool obviously. Torres obviously feels differently- about a lot of things.

Not looking to focus on Torres specifically, but when does a player become a legend? Reina is a legend as is molby.

Buffon is a legend for staying with juve right?

I just wonder if in a players mind, bring a legend registers. Gerrard wil be remembered with the greats but would have won more had he gone to Chelsea after cl win. Was that a factor in him staying? Ie being remembered along side Kenny for example.

I think Totti is one of the current epitomes of a legend. Could have joined any club and won countless trophies but he stuck with Roma. He'll be remembered as one of their greats, if not hte greatest. I'd classify Le Tissier in the same bracket

I think Gerrard and Totti are legends for sticking out at their clubs when they had much better positioned clubs come in for them. These two probably weighed legendary status with a few trophies as equal but if someone moved from their hometown club to another then moving for medals is an acceptable reason

Le Tissier was a better player

Totti can, as his name suggests, go f*** himself. One of the most overrated players ever.

Shearer's an all-time legend at the club he loves, has supported all his life. Matter of time before they build a statue of him outside their ground.

I'm sure he'd have loved end their trophy drought but still...

Le Tissier better than Totti?

Yep. Less glamorous and at a much smaller club, but i think he was a better player. Both underachieved.

And Le Tiss wasn't a t***, which helps.

Le Tissier better than a player who was twice voted Serie A player of the year several during an era when Serie A was the best league in the world? Five times Italian player of the year, even European Golden Shoe (and seria a top goal scorer) once? Who has scored over 250 goals for Roma?

Smiply no way.

Le Tiss is better for the clueless ones..

I somehow doubt if any player who is now rightly considered a legend, made their key career decisions based on the objective of attaining legend status.

More likely their decisions were made on principles of loyalty, honour; even more prosaic reasons like environment, family etc...

I guess my point is like the pointlessness of trying to be "cool", you dont try to be a legend for a football club.
