Flight Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Broughtons foresight in insisiting that only he could make changes to the board has saved our club and given it a bright future. No wonder his stock is so high in the city. He will go down in our history as a legend who played a pivotal role in helping to put the Liverbird back on it's perch. Thankyou, Martin Broughton.
Cobs Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 lucky today's hearing was on the 1 day of the week he was working for us
Conrad Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 lucky today's hearing was on the 1 day of the week he was working for us ha ha what a load of schite has been posted on this forum for the past 6 months A great day, a great result for the club, due in no small part to Broughton's involvement
RP Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Most sensible people have said all along that he was the start of the solution - and so it has proved. The deal was done before Broughton and/or BarCap got involved - or else, why on earth would they have been interested? They're only interested in 'open goals' - and Bob and JWH are good mates. All was decided months ago - relieved to see it finally playing out.
Tones Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hes only here to sell Torres to Chelsea. Dont be fooled!

renzo Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Broughton, Purslow and Aires all deserve credit in my view. I'd also like to know who were the people at RBS involved in drawing up the revised contract at the last refinancing because the stipulations they put in were instrumental to today's outcome. They deserve credit too.

David Hodgson Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Is this the official 'gloat' thread ? Great, its what I do best. Of course all those who called this so horrendously wrong won't give a f*ck cos they'll just be ecstatic at how things turned out. They'll be falling over themselves to apologise to Broughton and.....wait for it....(drum roll) ......Purslow. He can't be air brushed out of this chaps. Josemi he ain't. Doomed were not. Just so happy, shouldn't be being mean to people. I know. Broughton, Purslow and Aires all deserve credit in my view. I'd also like to know who were the people at RBS involved in drawing up the revised contract at the last refinancing because the stipulations they put in were instrumental to today's outcome. They deserve credit too. Too right. Good capitalism triumphs over bad capitalism. Home suits 5, Away suits 0.
drdooom Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Good job, chaps, now move along and let someone who knows how to run a football club (= start by replacing Roy) take the reins.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 now here comes everyone to claim this is exactly what they predicted
smithdown Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Aye, let's see if we can get out of the relegation zone too.
David Hodgson Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 now here comes everyone to claim this is exactly what they predicted Well you don't get money for backing a horse on here, so you might as well take some gloat points where you can get them. In all seriousness though John, men like Broughton and Purslow endured some pathetic name calling and abuse from our support down the months, culminating in those stupid banners at the Sunderland game. I hope SOS are prepared to go on the record and express gratitude to Purslow and Broughton and Ayre for the massive role they've played in saving our club.
Red2Core Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I'm sorry i doubted them all...any way blow me f*** face clear ya desk you horrible texan c*** an take that slimey b*****d georgie boy with you.
Davvo Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 now here comes everyone to claim this is exactly what they predicted Some of those have been on the receiving end in the manager threads this last month or so, so I think it's only fair they gloat a little, in the interests of balance and all that. Personally, I'm just glad Broughton and his team managed to fight off the s**** H&G have been trying to sling their way this last 6 months, as they desperately fought to avoid the inevitable.
Bailo Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I don't understand the mindset of coming on here today of all days and gloating about how right you were, especially when that's not been proven anyway. And I don't think Purslow particularly has been getting grief over the ownership issue, it's been the "player account" and his role in the undermining of the previous manager people are angry about.
Frosty Jack Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Broughton = Han Solo to Lord Grabiners Skywalker.
CarraLegend Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I don't understand the mindset of coming on here today of all days and gloating about how right you were, especially when that's not been proven anyway. Really odd, one of the biggest things in our history and all some care about is mocking other fans. Each to their own and all that I suppose!
drdooom Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Broughton = Han Solo to Lord Grabiners Skywalker. Purslow = Lando Calrissian
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Well you don't get money for backing a horse on here, so you might as well take some gloat points where you can get them. I hope SOS are prepared to go on the record and express gratitude to Purslow and Broughton and Ayre for the massive role they've played in saving our club. fair enough, I agree that they deserve praise for getting rid of G&H. not 100% sure what you're gloating about, but I'm sure you have your reasons.as you were so pro-Huang, and had insider info to the effect that that deal was happening, I'm not sure how you feel you called this outcome. also, didn't you say the other day that the "second bidder" was Huang, when it turned out to be Lim? I realise that you might think Huang is behind Mill, but that's irrelevant now too. I guess you predicted that we wouldn't be stuck with G&H forever and that we wouldn't go bust. So did fyds, so I guess you'll be giving him kudos? for years, he's been saying that everything was just about to turn out fine. not to mention that the 'Purslow is a c**k' thing relates to on-pitch matters that he's influenced, and which we're debating on multiple other threads. the "we're doomed" merchants were just making sure we didn't get complacent, and I think they were right to do so, as they couldn't be sure we wouldn't get docked 9 points/relegated/asset stripped. don't think anyone could be 100% sure of that until now. so it was better to stay on our toes. also, some people are instinctively suspicious of City types who patronise or lie to supporters, and again I think that's reasonable. and to be fair, we don't yet know that they're selling us to the right people. you've said that yourself - it felt like 2007 to you. I'm being optimistic for now though. I've tried to make this post not seem chippy, as it's not meant to be, but I know it'll come across like that in writing so apologies. I feel nothing but goodwill right now. hope this'll heal a few divisions on the forum as a side effect too.
dorgie Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 The Broughton Stand in the new stadium anyone ?
Pam Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Well you don't get money for backing a horse on here, so you might as well take some gloat points where you can get them. I'm grateful to Broughton, Purslow and Ayre for their role in getting to today's verdict and hopefully getting us better owners. However their role in getting rid of our best manager for years and replacing him with a journeyman manager and all the rubbish spouted about how much money was being spent on players leaves a lot to be desired.
Woodsyla Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Of course all those who called this so horrendously wrong won't give a f*ck cos they'll just be ecstatic at how things turned out.Exactly, you enjoy it.
