Direct Action - Tomorrow

Spirit Of Shankly

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow should be a game where we are looking to get back on track on the pitch. Instead, we will be fighting for our Club, to get it back on track in the boardroom. We, as supporters, have a duty to protect the future of our Football Club. Tomorrow is the continuance of a campaign to fulfil that duty. During, and after the Sunderland game we will protest.

Today we have seen and heard what the manager has had to say about protests. Our message remains as clear as ever - we will do what we feel is necessary. As supporters we don't want to be protesting. We want to be talking football not finance, we want to be talking left backs not leveraged buyouts.

Instead, circumstances dictate that we must do all of this - the protesting, the campaigning, the pushing to have new owners. Over three years ago, this "group of people" were watching new signings such as Torres and Mascherano, looking forward to a 'spade in the ground' in 60 days that would see us with a brand new stadium, competing with the best in the world, and built in time for Jamie Carragher's testimonial.

This "group of people" has over 50,000 people supporting what it is trying to achieve, with countless more supporting the campaign for new owners. We are very much anti owner for one clear and unequivocal reason - they have lied.

This "group of people" will protest and will continue to protest, because we have a bond, an unbreakable one with our Football Club. We can't just walk away. This Football Club is part of who we are, it's part of who our parents and grandparents are and were, and it's part of who our children will be. It's an emotional attachment that cannot be ridden roughshod over by businessmen in the pursuit of greed rather than glory. It's an emotional attachment that means we will do whatever it takes, regardless of whether it makes things more difficult or not, to save our Football Club.

This "group of people" will always support the position of Liverpool manager. We will continue to demand that the resources of the Football Club are directed towards assisting him in his job rather than being squandered on servicing unsustainable and unnecessary levels of debt.

The protests will continue. To those who say it affects the team performance, our argument is simple and honest - massive debts, crippling interest repayments and lying owners are what is affecting the team. If you don't believe us, read the accounts. Or ask the players who have recently spoken of the need for new owners. Or better still, ask Roy Hodgson.

It's our duty, our responsibility, and our desire to bring about change at our Football Club. To rid it of men with no honesty, no integrity and no concern for the Club's future. Tomorrow, we will carry out that duty.

Really good statement that, what has the manager had to say about protests exactly?

"I, like anyone at Liverpool Football Club, would be very happy if the ownership situation got clarified, and in particular if we got a very good owner that can help us move forward," he said.

"It (the protest) doesn't help but is something I've had to live with since I came to the club.

"It is a major issue for a group of people who are very much anti the owners and the current people who are trying to solve the situation.

"It is often the case that when things are conspiring against you there is always an extra thing to come in and make it that little bit worse.

"It tests our mettle, our desire and strength. I am very confident the strength of this club, the strength of the playing staff and the people around me is more than enough for the club to come through this period.

"But while you are in that period it is unpleasant."

"It is often the case that when things are conspiring against you there is always an extra thing to come in and make it that little bit worse". He is not talking about the protest in this part is he? If he is then taking the football aside(which is s***) he should just do one now.

same as rafa.

Don't think Rafa said:

Hodgson is demonstrating that he doesn't get this club at all.

Great statement from SOS, Hodgson is proving to be their greatest recruiter.

First time I've read the full transcript, interesting stuff.

Rafa didn't want protests in the ground, the SOS agreed, we'll never know if they disagreed with him at the time what the outcome could have been.

Hodgsons second part of his statement re the people trying to resolve things can be taken whichever way and will be. He can't win if he gets involved so its probably best he doesn't.

I read it as Mr Hodgson telling the fans not to rock the boat. Well that's good advice if the boat in question was just listing, unfortunately this boat is already three feet under and plummeting towards the sea bed. I think Mr Hodgson should take his own advice and restrict his comments to on field issues. The action undertaken by the fans shows their support for the club, for which people like the manager should be eternally grateful

Jeff Stelling can f*** off, just said protests at Anfield after the game, making their feelings known, may have been less involved than they hoped for but perhaps they should concentrate on whats happening on the pitch, then followed it up with we do know how they feel about the owners and have for a while, but they are still there, C***!!!

What do you really expect from an employee of Rupert Murdoch?

picket the club shops

picket the concession stands inside the ground

The ONLY things that will have ANY effect are those that affect their pockets. They don't give a f*** about protests, songs or marches. All they care about is money. People feel like their actions today are doing something but they're not, they're absolutely pointless. Looked like less than a thousand stayed behind.

It's time to get angry.

BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT.

It has always been the only answer.

This has got nothing to do with you

Protest was reall good today. Couldn't judge numbers but impressd that plenty from the other stands not just the Kop (which i was in) stayed as well

Great start but we really should push on from here. We should be doing something every home game. Building up each time.

I am going to be trying to stop the team coach next week. Please come and join me. If you don't fancy that go on the march. But DO SOMETHING

Whatever happens next weekend, it needs to be properly coordinated and intended to disrupt to the maximum. However admirable the efforts after the game today the fact is that it caused no disruption and whilst it got some disparaging coverage by Sky and others, there was no financial impact or embarrassment to the owners.
