CHRed Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 As soon as he came on we would lose. This guy is useless. Crosses into the crowd, can't beat a Man etc etc Great effort by the team spoilt by Rafa's (He has got to go) insistence with NGOG first game and subs this game, Degan, EL Zhar Money or no money - selection of of the squad (fit players) has been poor for a Manager that prides himself on tactical awareness. Should have put on Soto, moved Masc into midfield, Johnson RB Oh well, should now be too tired to raise game for Sunday

tomasjj Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 yeah, have a go at the managers subs, or even the subs themselves, cause that is the only thing you could see and hence even remotely get close to understanding.
David Hodgson Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Sorry, I am drunk Great post, great thread. f***in feckin f***.

Hassony Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 the right hand side that ended the match for us would struggle in the scottish league
Romario Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 the right hand side that ended the match for us would struggle in the scottish leagueOuch!!
Zoob Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Rafa got enough stick for putting on an (albeit useless) attacking full-back. Had we put a centre back on when chasing the game, this forum would have reached critical meltdown
Zoob Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 el Zhar is bobbins though. I agree. Was very surprised that we got him to sign a new contract. Big shame that Riera decided to crap where he eats.
Gunga Din Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I agree. Was very surprised that we got him to sign a new contract. Big shame that Riera decided to crap where he eats. he's almost 24 as well. he isnt even a promising Kid. he's about the same age as Owen was when he f***ed off to Madrid and a year younger than Gerrard was when he lifted the European Cup
fyds Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 We lost the tie and won the game - it happens. No point trying to blame El Zhar - it wasn't him that missed the clearing header that let Reyes in when we were in a winning position. We got no favours from the ref and had a perfectly good goal disallowed in the first leg which would have made their away goal irrelevant and this thread very different.
carrafan Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I agree. Was very surprised that we got him to sign a new contract. We'd be even worse off squadwise if we'd simply let his contract run out and bugger off on a free. Atleast we'll make a couple mil from his sale now. As you said, he wouldnt have been playing today if Riera hadnt gone mental.

As you said, he wouldnt have been playing today if Riera hadnt gone mental. Think a couple million is very, very optimistic, particularly given the injury hit season he's just had. And as Wayne pointed out, it's not as if he's some fantastic young player with lots of potential. I'm still surprised we didn't sell him - for what ever amount - rather than give him another contract... He's not a total waste of space, but he's clearly nowhere near Liverpool level.
Cam Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I thought Degen did okay. As for the El Zhar sub... a couple of years back when he was being ignored for coming on in favour of Benayoun (then crap) and Babel I stuck up for him and said "no, he's probably not gonna make it here but the other two have been useless. We'll know what'll happen if they come on. Bring the kid on... he may, only may, do something". However, I've now woken up to the fact that he's ****. So surely by using my old logic Pacheco would be the one to come on first. Dani may or may not become the Greatest Player Ever Ever Ever but he may, just may, do something.
fyds Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 no ones blaming el zharOh I dunno - the thread starter and several others are having a good go. I don't rate him either fwiw - but it's a bit surreal to single him out in a game where a depleted squad actually played rather well and very well at times yet unmistakably would have been enhanced by a Torres, a Riera or a Stevie who was at the races.

He didn't do anything, he is a waste of space. I can see why he was brought on but its shambolic that he is the only option. Once Martin Kelly is fit Degen shouldn't get anywhere near the squad.
Cunny Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 (edited) I thought El Zhar did ok when he came on. Edited April 30, 2010 by Cunny
Benzo-13 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 f***ing shameful bench for a European semi at a club this size.Asset stripping showed it's ugly head for all to see right there.
muleskinner Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 He did OK at crossing it straight into the Kop.
