well, not THAT interesting

Mark Clattenberg and Howard Webb - between them they’ve taken charge of just one game (now two); Lee Mason and Phil Dowd have racked up eight between them.

Why has Mark Clattenburg not refereed a game involving Liverpool this season, out of his 18 appointments, and yet Lee Mason has refereed Liverpool four times out of 13? (And why have three of the four players he’s sent off been Reds, when the club only had one dismissal in the previous two seasons? One of Mason’s red cards – to Degen – was farcical. That’s not to mention two clear penalties at Stoke waved away, and a wrongly disallowed goal at home to Burnley.)

From one of Tomkins latest...

Never had a problem with Walton to be fair.

Mason, on the other hand - interesting stats about him.

How often has Clattenburg reffed us since he gave Gerrard a peno at Goodison and sent off Hibbert?

Wolves - Peter Walton

Bolton - Steve Bennett.

:shudder:

Steve Bennett. Bloody bloody hell.

I think Walton is just very, very, very poor rather than being utterly corrupt like Bennett. I can't believe the club hasn't protested this cheating bent idiot being in charge of our games.

compared to non/lower league football, the refs in the premier league are of a pretty decent standard. compared to some of the refs from around the world that get to go to the world cup they are incredible. especially when you consider the pace of the game these days and they only get to see things in realtime. not sure what the stats are (awaits someone to prove this wrong..!), but i'm sure we can't have had clattenburg more than once or twice since that game at goodison, what, 3 seasons ago?

despite the fact that i think the standard of referreeing in this league is pretty good i would say steve bennett has a bad case of the howard webb centre of attention complex, and llee mason reffing our games is suspect as f***.

Maybe Rafa should come out and Mason like Slur Alex did with Martin Atkinson when they were knocked out of the cup by Portsmouth. Don't think he refereed another of their matches for a while. Also we should try to get Purslow or somebody at the club to work at the Permier League or F.A. like Utd have with David Gill.

Mason is the worst. He absolutely hates us.

there was a spell just before and just after half time during that pompey match that you could see our players were completely rattled by his decision making. changed our mindset as we became petulant as f*** and lost any chance of having a grip on the game. was a proper gascoigne italia '90 moment for our whole side.

Normally I'd think anyone saying that had a persecution complex but it is very difficult to argue against your assertion. iMHO, he's a poor referee who thinks he's being 'strong' by not awarding decisions in favour of the 'big' team which as a policy, is daft. It's his duty to be impartial.

Has Mason ref'd any of the other big teams this season? Be interested to see whether he's made any other (ahem) contentious decisions against them. Also haven't all his games in charge of us have been away? Maybe he's just a massive homer?

Normally I wouldn't go in for any of this ref stuff.

But Mason really obviously hates us.

And Walton was kind enough to demonstrate this tonight. Made no difference to the result since both teams were horrible rubbish, but I lost track of the amount of decisions he got wrong. Mostly in favour of the home team, but a couple our way too. I can count on one hand the number of decent refereeing performances we've had in league games...Then again, I can also count on one hand the amount of decent performances we've put in this season...

Aye he was a bit of a homer. Made no difference though, as you say. We could have had Manc-levels of officiating and we still wouldn't have go anywhere near their box.
