Not saying he's some all-encompassing solution to our problems, but I'd love to be able to have him sticking wide out left and being able to hang on to the ball a bit. Is it still his hammy keeping him out?

Riera? Hang on to the ball?

You sure?

Its Riera's time to bask in the glow of becoming a better footballer every day he is injured.

Its gets a little frustrating when I made a particular point saying he's not a solution.

He's not Ronaldo, but our shape looked 1000 times better last season with him in the team (before Yossi started playing well) and him being back would mean Yossi could play on the right and Kuyt has a rest.

And I stand by his possession - I think he keeps the ball well and uses it intelligently. He also does try and pin the fullback in his own half.

Its been a general theme on here recently though. He's pretty average really

He automatically stretches play by sticking to the line, giving more room to the midfielers to work with. When Benayoun arses about on the left, he cuts inside and allows the other team to bunch up and make things tight.

I'd have him in the team every day of the week. However, he is probably suffering from Babel-syndrome. Every day out ot the side makes him look a better player. He's massively inconsistent, but I' still have him in the team despite that simply for the way he transforms the way the side is set up.

It's only really happened with Babel, and I acknowledged Riera isn't the second coming of Christ. But his ability to pull players wide is underestimated.

the OP is right. He helps add width and balance.

And he can keep possession well - I remember in our win at Stamford Bridge last year he was excellent in keeping the ball.

Shame that he lacks pace.

Yes he did. So he's given us 6 minutes of good football this season

The complete tatering of Stoke, Burnley and Hull and one thing in common, He played.

I am just saying, gives us better balance.

Oh, and you are a c***

We really could do with Riera back.

Jobi McAnuff gave a better wing performance last night than I've seen from any of our wide players all season. That says it all - how much for McAnuff?

I don't think he will be a Liverpool player for much longer.

I don't think so either. I bet he is a bit of a drag on the dressing room.

He's decidedly average on the pitch too. How injured is he FFS?
