Carragher and skrtel have been as bad as each other, they are both very good defenders who are going through a bad spell

you can f*** right off with that. carra is 10 x the defender skrtel is, regardless of his drop in form from his own standards. skrtel has never been rated as highly as carra.

they have both been below bar this season, skrtel has been more than good enough since he has joined us, has he been as good as Carra? probably not, but IMO he has been more reliable than agger (whenever Agger played)

 

Carra was world class until a couple of seasons back, he is still a very good defender, and probably still our best defender, I just hate the way skrtel has been written off after a few bad games this season

Carra seems to be over-playing, i.e. trying to cover / compensate for others shortcomings. I'd give Skrtel a bench role for a few games and I'd stick the Greek / Agger (if fit) alongside Carra.

Don't get me wrong, I like Skrtel, he's potentially a future great but for now he needs to be replaced (not written off or scapegoated by any means)

I am sure if Agger was fit or we had Hyypia (who would still have been our best defender) skrtel wouldn't have been rushed too soon after his injury

 

I would still play skrtel on sunday, he has always done well against drogba and I don't think the greek is in his class, If Agger is fit than he should play

It doesn't help that Johnson and Insua couldn't pass the ball 5 yards today. Their distribution and positioning left Carra and Skrtel exposed. Was very disapointed that Skrtel just stopped after being done by that Jovetic in the 2nd half.

Carragher,Skyrtl, Agger and Kyriagos are all good defenders when playing in a system that they are comfortable with. This year, we are employing a somewhat more attacking role for the two outside backs, leaving less protection for the centrebacks. Take away Alonso and Masch as well, and you have two centrebacks trying to cover for six players. their weaknesses are exposed, they tire quicker, and the extra stress makes them do wierd things.Until they get more help, or get smarter in their positioning,expect more of the same.

he's actually just an average stopper, he's not even a good one. has no particular strengths and no specialities and shouldn't be first choice for a side at our level. think when we signed him the skinhead and tatts made everyone think we'd found our vidic. not in the same ballpark though.

The point stands. People will try and deny it based on his current form but they will be wrong. He has suffered 2 bad injuries and come back probably too early from a broken jaw given Aggers situation.

 

Expecting Agger to stay fit given his record since he signed is dreamland, he will be out again before Christmas, you can virtually guarantee it.
