I am as excited as the next man regarding our chances this year, but somethings are not sitting quite right with me just now.

Didn't like our fans singing about us gonna win the league yesterday.

Been trying to keep a lid on it for a while now and its getting harder and harder to keep up the facade with mates that I am just happy to be competing at this stage of the season.

Its been a long 19 years saying that next year will be our year, next year will be our year, next year will be our year........

Gonna hurt like feck if we fall short.

we may not win the league, but this team will not fall short - if we win all our game we will win the double

Know what ya mean, but you're wrong.

Singing 'we're gonna win the league' is a battle cry that used to be heard at games in the golden age the minute we even had a scent of the title. I think half the reason we lost momentum earlier in the season is that the fans should have been bellowing out '..and now you're gonna believe us ...etc' at the time we were playing West Ham and Fulham at home.

Being champions was always about thinking like champions. It's not mockering, it's about having the conviction that you are the team most worthy.

Exactly.

This negative attitude is one of the biggest barriers to us winning the League

Why the hell not?

As much as I believe it and want it, by feck do I want it, remember its been along time of hurting.

I am aware of the significance and history of the song.

Perfect summation. Yesterday Ielt for the first time in more than 20 years that the true liverpool - the one whose single purpose is to win, win with dignity, to represent an ideal - has been reborn. If we dont win a trophy this year then I'll be disappointed but the things that define Liverpool for me - the attitude of the players and manager, the relationship with the fans, the desire - has returned and that is what matters most.

Noooo-body expects the Mighty Reds!

Our main purpose is to win - to win with dignity

Our two main purposes are to win, to win with dignity and to represent an ideal

Our three main purposes are to win, to win with dignity and to represent an ideal

We look fantastic at the moment and there's a couple of positions we can improve. This team has loads of potential.

yes

we need a better keeper and a striker to replace Torres, who hasn't scored in two games now!

The timing yesterday was fantastic and if you don't sing like that after then you'll never sing. That was our support finding their belief and celebrating it. I remember a manc mate saying how they got all superstitious about it when they kept falling short in the 80s/early 90s, to the point where anyone on the stretford end singing about winning the league would be shouted down and booed. F*ck that, the big jessies! Mockers is mockers but you've got to let it all out after a game like that. Shrinking from it would be sh*thouse. There's enough of us about who've seen plenty of titles and yesterday was the right time to let the world - and especially the mancs - know that we're up for this, good style. That's what that song is made for.

Anyone know the last time we were top of the League in April? I know we went close under Evans in 97 but I don't think we were top in the month of April then. So last time must have been either 1990 or 1991.

Nowt wrong with singing that yesterday, for years i've felt that we've failed to have a winners mentality, we've just been happy to stay in the race going into february and i feel that can transfer to the players too.

Now we're showing genuine belief and confidence, and that 20 minutes of singing will also have given the players huge confidence.

Don't remember that at all. All I remember is an Arsenal team who kept on winning and we never managed to close the gap at the top.

Arsenal had games in hand that season. We kept winning and going top (the Chelsea game sticks in my mind) but Ljunberg went on a mental scoring spree.

Rubbish that.

Just about the perfect time to turn up the pressure on those c***s down the East Lancs. A late winner and then massive celebrations amongst fans who really believe - followed by Jock's comments on MoTD. Can't sit well with the mancs that.

Exactly, you only had to look at the players faces when they were being interviewed, they loved it, the fans believe, the players believe and it would be ludicrous not to stay and sing about it when you have snatched a crucial victory and turned up the heat on the Mancs. Had we not won yesterday United would have got a huge lift, instead they got a crushing blow. Long may it continue

'And now you're gonna belie-eve us ....

We're gonna win the league'

Cheered like mad when that Vladi goal went in.
