Tobes Rafa Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) He doesn't half bang on a bit though...... Edited March 16, 2009 by Rikster
_00_deathscar Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 For once I'm almost lost for words. Apparently not. He goes on to write a further 2,007 of them!
allawee Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Really good article spot on in almost every respect specially about Gerrard's conversion to a striker and the comparison between us vs Man U and Everton vs us.
diaspora Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Quite like his comments about our defensive set up and our second half goals record, can go further though the top 3 have all scored the same number of goals, yet the media have us as a dour team intent on a 1:0 counterattack side

Puma Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 (edited) Good stuff indeed. I specially liked the bit about his substitions. He can be frustraitingly punctual with them but they do work almost every single time. It's also so true that he hasn't had a fair crack at the whip since Istanbul. I'd really, really, really hate to see Rafa go and I'm just praying he gets to finish his masterplan. One point I missed from the United game is the bizarre triple substitution coming just minutes before Vidics red and the third goal. Why make a triple substition there? It clearly destabilised United at a time I felt they were starting to push us a little bit. I told my gf, look, this is going to hurt them Edited March 17, 2009 by Puma

I told my gf, look, this is going to hurt them Triple substitutions are the sign of a world class manager apparently. The absolute sense of desperation you must be feeling to throw on 3 players at once is what lifts managers like Mourinho and Ferguson above the likes of Rafa. Or something. Although it's perhaps a little harsh to call it a triple substitution as I saw no evidence that Berbatov made it onto the pitch.
Puma Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 true. He's probably the last player in the world I could bear in a red shirt. Fkin lazt git. But I thought is was just typical that not a single comment about this "brilliant" substitutions and it's affect on the game was made after the game. At least none I saw.
cymrococh Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Don't see how it can be described as fantastic apart from the fact that it's subject is how great we are. His obsession with net spend is getting a little old and some of the stuff is just odd e.g. "only the 5th-most expensive squad currently in the Premiership"...5th is actually quite high from 20.

Surely the idea is that we have the 5th most expensive squad but are 2nd or 3rd
cymrococh Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Yeah, but there's no context and it becomes meaningless. Where are Man City in comparison to their spend? Has he really done the maths on net spend for every other team or is he just accepting the figures he disputes for us?

Molby Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 This net spend thing is the worst thing to ever happen to this forum. once you understand it, it won't seem so bad
johngibo YPC Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 This net spend thing is the worst thing to ever happen to this forum. b******s, its very very relevant
Jarg Armani Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 This net spend thing is the worst thing to ever happen to this forum. Brackets (and parentheses in general) are the worst thing ever to happen to Tomkins (in a non footballing - purely windbag related sense).
owenthomas Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 i also think it's quite relevant because it's brought up a lot.. i have no idea who the fella is in the Daily Star Sunday but he has a column called 'Rays Yer Game'.. he never seems to tire of sticking the boot into Rafa (and a fair few others like!).. anyway, abotu two or three weeks ago he brought up about Rafa spending big bucks and said something along the lines of "he (as in Rafa) has got no right to complain.. in the time he's been at Liverpool he's spent as much as Ferguson has at Manchester United in the same time".. nothing about where the two sides starting point was at the time he took over or anything else about totally rebuilding a squad - just put that out there for people to read and take in and fuel more of this train of thought.. it makes me laugh!.. sort of..
matty Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Whither Alan Edge? A club hath need of him, need we hath.
