Stevie H Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 f***ing outrageous that was, t****** at him from two yards away and he gets a yellow for handball? ref was an absolute c*** all night and didn't give us one 50/50 while buying every little f***ing roll and fall they made. thank christ it's someone else for the second leg.

Who cares, he was Madrid's best player. Had 4 good games after signing but wouldn't get a game for my Saturday team. No pace, no flair (after the first month) and a complete waste of a shirt. The only danger tonight
bobbyboulders Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 f***ing outrageous ... Twas. As was not allowing that corner to be taken 20 seconds into first half stoppage time.
Stevie H Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 he's been off form lately but he's certainly not sh*te. and you're happy with refs penalising us for f*** all are you?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Who cares, he was Madrid's best player. Had 4 good games after signing but wouldn't get a game for my Saturday team. No pace, no flair (after the first month) and a complete waste of a shirt. The only danger tonight He had a good game tonight. He didn't offer a great deal going forward, but tackled back & defended our left with Aurelio - snuffing out Robben who could have caused all sorts of problems - effectively. That was his job tonight and he did it f***ing well. I lost count of the number of times I was surprised with his guile & ability in tackling & being a nuisance when they had the ball

lfc4eva99 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Well, with that booking, it probably means a 4-2-3-1 with Gerrard, Benayoun and Kuyt behind Torres for the return, unless Stevie plays on the right, where he will own Marcelo easily.

Anyone who can find themselves capable of such bitterness after a result like last night should just give up watching football, because if your enjoyment at winning at the Bernabeau doesn't negate your need to spew bile about one of our playes for even one night then not much ever will. Seriously, give up 'supporting' us because clearly it brings no pleasure whatsover.
Stevie H Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Seriously, give up 'supporting' us because clearly it brings no pleasure whatsover.plenty of football fans are masochists. what gets me is that they follow successful clubs like liverpool when they could get themselves off far more efficiently by following someone like doncaster rovers, the footballing equivalent of thrashing one's own balls with a knotted rope.

It is just bizarre. I eman, had he just said something like 'I don't think Riera had his best game and has been off form for a bit so it might not as big a loss as people fear' then fair enough, there is soemthing to disccuss in that. It is all the 'Madird's best player, only ever had 4 decent games' crap that does my head. Where does that air of misery come from when we've just won in Madrid?
Stevie H Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 f***ed if i know mate. i've never understood it. pepe was probably madrid's best player, albeit up against a clearly unfit torres. the ref was madrid's second best player.
DanielS Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) Was Reira not booked for having a go at the linesman? It was about as meek a go as you are likely to see unless you are watching the Annual Fluffy Bunny five-a-side tournament, but he did spend a decent amount of time showing the linesman why the decision was wrong - the length of the complaint is usually what gets you into the refs bad books. D.Boon Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 He did play shyte though I don't think Riera had his best game and has been off form for a bit so it might not as big a loss as people fear
Swagger Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 The ref had a shocking game. Almost every call went Madrid's way.
Hassony Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Reira is a good solid £6m player, consistancy has always been his big problem though
Eiler99 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) The ref had a shocking game. Almost every call went Madrid's way. "Así gana el Madrid" as they say in Spain. Except they didn't win last night! Edited February 26, 2009 by Eiler99
baz2107 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 If Riera got booked for having a go at the linesman then how come they did absolutely nothing when Robben was in the linesmans face in the first half arguing about a throw in? Bad decision but if everyones fit I can see Riera being the one dropping out the 1st choice starting line up on current form with Benayoun playing there and Gerrard through the middle

DanielS Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 looked to be for the handball to me. booted right at him from two yards away and the card came out straight away. Either way it was a s***ty thing to do and as baz pointed out, Robben was in the lino's face giving him advice on Tulip growing or similar early in the first half which was far worse.
Hassony Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 looked to be for the handball to me. booted right at him from two yards away and the card came out straight away. Its a shame they don't have the same rule in england, Illunga would have got 5 bookings against us
Woodsyla Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 looked to be for the handball to me. booted right at him from two yards away and the card came out straight away.It seemed to me to be in direct response to our goal. you have audacity to score, ok, I'll give them a dangerous free kick and book a player to boot.

Gray was desperate for that to go in "how many times do you see a goal scored by a team just after conceding....etc"
Gerry Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Gray was desperate for that to go in "how many times do you see a goal scored by a team just after conceding....etc" On that note, I'm sure this was dealt with in some study last year. They analysed all the goals scored in football games since the dawn of time (well, close enough) and found that statistically you were no more likely to concede just after scoring than at any other time. All our bookings were a load of old b******s last night. The ref was conned.
