oakie bob Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I was there that night on the kop, bets bit after his goal was the fact that the first 3 rows of the Kemlyn Road Stand where dancing on the pitch
Earl Hafler Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 If i remember rightly, the backlift people would love it.
smithdown Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Sure it was the right foot. Doesn't show him barging Whiteside off it, was just a case of "Giz it you I need to score" The penno to win it was the best one ever taken as well. Big run up (for him) and tw*tted it in the top corner. And his celebration after the winner was feckin boss as well. Roy of the rovers footy.
Nebraska Red Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 the place was packed that night and there were people sitting on the steps in the Main Stand. after the goal went in the noise was similar to that when Fairclough scored that goal against St Etienne. if I remember rightly, the night started off with a bit of bother as there were a fair few Mancs on the Kop.
Zoob Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I was listening on the radio. The commentator went nuts. seems so hard to believe that there was a period where no cameras were allowed into any stadiums.
David Hodgson Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 It didn't look like that. The run was virtually from the half way line and the shot was harder and straighter. The keeper wasn't far from it, but the sheer power beat him.
John am Rhein Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Haha! Those Man U defenders were sh*t. Almost like watching cartoon characters!
Bao Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 It didn't look like that. The run was virtually from the half way line and the shot was harder and straighter. The keeper wasn't far from it, but the sheer power beat him.I was right behind the keeper and I'm pretty sure he got his fingertips to it but it didn't deflect the ball at all. The best bit about the penalty was that (was it Craig Johnston?) was pulled down a yard or two outside the box. I had a mate in the Kemlyn who was right level with it. We then had another genuine shout turned down I seem to remember. Don't recall trouble in the Kop that evening though.
Benitez Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 is this one of those games where a 150,000 people claim to have been at?
anny road Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 i was there the mancs scored dead early...Mcgrath i actually dont remember the Molby goal that well..i was in the middle of the Kop and a short a***...
JRC Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 the place was packed that night and there were people sitting on the steps in the Main Stand. Not in front of me there wasn't, thankfully - I was in an end seat about 15 rows back and ran right down to the wall behind the paddock like a madman. Recreating the Kop experience, I suppose. There were no cameras because there was strike, wasn't there? Although all-match coverage was not the case then, that game would have been on.
pipnasty Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I think it was possibly the last 50,000+ crowd at Anfield. Probably one of the best games I can remember and deffo one of the best goals I can remember.
Earl Hafler Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Molby's own words "...The great thing about most people not having seen it is that the goal just gets better and better. I promise everybody that i will release it in due course and that when i do it will be on the Liverpool website. For those that weren't at Anfield, i won a 50-50 challenge with Whiteside over by the dug-out and then i looked up for Rush or Dalglish - as i always did when i had the ball - but they weren't where i expected them to be. So i set off and went past Bryan Robson, Clayton Blackmore and Paul McGrath and the next thing i know i'm 30 yards from goal. As soon as i hit it then i knew that if it was on target the keeper wouldn't get it. " Apparently one of Ron Atkinson's friends sorted him out with a copy of the match tape
smithdown Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Bailey got at least one hand to it, but had no chance.
Earl Hafler Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Bailey got at least one hand to it, but had no chance. My mistake, Molby actually says " save it "
smithdown Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 My mistake, Molby actually says " save it " Oh aye, I know what you mean. I'm sure I heard or read somewhere that Bailey was glad he couldn't get more on it.
Molby Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I was there Main stand was it deffo Bailey? thought it was Turner or similar yard dog anyway...beautiful, just beautiful
johngibo YPC Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Can't believe the tight b*****d has a video if it, but hasn't shown anyone! But i suppose if the goal is getting better every year!
John am Rhein Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I was there of course you were there. You scored that goal FFS!
Mike Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 i think molby (the real one) is teasing tbh. i don't see how he can have a video of it. why would manu have a video from a game at anfield if we didn't? they don't bring their own camera crew with them do they.

I'm thinking hand held cine-camera. He says the quality isn't brilliant.
