muleskinner Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I know I'm tempting fate a bit, but that really is a piss-poor side. Albeit one that keeps getting wins. They will be 2 very tough matches.

psl Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) there's a big argument for playing sami against the s****. aerial presence at both ends, they'll be hoping to nab from dead-balls. I can see the sense, although their threat is diminished somewhat by Fellaini's suspension. We do miss Agger carrying the ball from the back though. I certainly wouldn't be disappointed to see Sami start alongside Carragher with Alonso back in the side however. Edited January 14, 2009 by psl

Knox_Harrington Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I know I'm tempting fate a bit, but that really is a piss-poor side. It's not. -------------------Howard--------------------- -----Jagielka----- Lescott-----Baines Osman--------------Arteta------Pienaar -----------------------Cahill-------------- All decent players. All left bar Jagielka and the goalkeeper would be useful to have in our squad.
MFletcher Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I would only take Arteta for our squad. The rest are nowhere near the required standard to be squad players, let alone key first team players as they are there.

Osman's a very good footballer, Lescott and Baines are good enough to get in our squad at left full back, Cahill would be tidy cover for Gerrard in a 4-2-3-1, Pienaar is neat and tidy with a bit of pace. Level of Benayoun perhaps, maybe a little poorer but would be worth us having.

Baines is not the player of 2 years ago but injuries are probably to blame.

I've always thought Pienaar had a bit when I've seen him but I could be wrong.

I was perhaps hasty with Lescott, but I am fairly content with the left back options available to us at present and would see little need for either him or Baines. It's not as if we could use Lescott at centre back either, given the quality we have in that position. Cahill would most certainly not be 'tidy' cover. We have Robbie Keane for that. But I really don't rate Osman and Pienaar. They're tidy players perhaps, but they're tidy players for the likes of Everton. Being a tidy player for Liverpool requires you to play to a better level than either of these two can manage.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Setanta have gotten hold of Darren Farley to do the promo for the Derby game. Previously I wasnt too sure about Carra's voice but its spot on in this clip http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9iwcUeFkFEI# Gerrard: Bluenoses reckon they're gonna do us in the derby Carra: Yer-avin-a-laff Stevie, there's more chance of Keano () gettin 90 mins
