The Hitman Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Stamford Bridge is more atmospheric than El Monumental?
floyd Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Stamford Bridge is more atmospheric than El Monumental?Exactly. Wonder if River lost out because they give their fans paper flags on big match days, instead of the more reverbarating plastic flags?
Stevie H Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Exactly. Wonder if River lost out because they give their fans paper flags on big match days, instead of the more reverbarating plastic flags?ticker tape and flares versus plastic flags and song sheets. f*** me.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 ticker tape and flares versus plastic flags and song sheets. f*** me. You forgot the swirling scarfs neck garments
Andy @ Allerton Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Tell you what; Sunderland fans are tiny aren't they!?
Dmitch Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Tell you what; Sunderland fans are tiny aren't they!? maybe thet just use really big notes over in sunderland?
kop205 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) 40-31 Jesus, The Maracana is huge. 30 - 21 Edited December 24, 2008 by kop205
Andy @ Allerton Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 To be fair to them, they printed my comment; Chelsea in the top 50? Ha ha ha. Obviously the writer has never been to Stamford Bridge. Silence and club-provided plastic flags for the 'fans' to wave.
Sion Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I was thinking the other day how the Maracana and Stadio Olimpico weren't as atmospheric as Tynecastle or Ashton Gate
kop205 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 the dell??? These lists are always mental. You can guarantee they'll be 'controversial' in their top 10, we probably won't be the top English ground it will be f***ing Fratton Park or Goodison or something just to try and piss us off. Having said that, I never went to the Dell but I always thought of it as one of those intimidating little grounds, the crowd tight to the pitch and that - a bit like Roker, where I did go to.

I was threatened by a man with a pie at Roker Park. I agree with you though, these modern stadiums arent intimidating at all, I wonder if Former Huddersfield town ground Leeds Road will be there Edited December 24, 2008 by Bigal
kop205 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I was threatened by a man with a pie at Roker Park. I agree with you though, these modern stadiums arent intimidating at all, I wonder if Former Huddersfield town ground Leeds Road will be there Was a real air of menace about Roker I felt for some reason. Maybe it was that big f*** off hole in the middle of the away end that they all used to stream out of at the end.
The Hitman Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 To be fair,in England I'd probably go with Fratton Park.
Andy Mac Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 To be fair,in England I'd probably go with Fratton Park.

Aye, its nice for a bit of exercise after a footie match isnt it? and the sprint into town wasnt uncommon
kop205 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 To be fair,in England I'd probably go with Fratton Park. I think that's where they'll go for to be a bit different, though I can kind of see the logic. Can it match Anfield on a big European night? Not a chance. Does it have beter atmopshere for your run of the miil league games? I've not been there so don't know, but a lot would probably say so.
kop205 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) Aye, its nice for a bit of exercise after a footie match isnt it? and the sprint into town wasnt uncommon Was a mad looking terrace that. Just one f***ing huge exit. Edit - meant to say home end before not away end. That is why there were always f***ing loads of them out on the streets seconds after the whistle.
