Liverpool have today signed French hotshot David Ngog from Paris Saint Germain. The 19-year-old becomes the fourth addition to Rafa Benitez's first-team squad after penning a four-year deal at Anfield

Ngog is one of the brightest young talents in French football.

His tally of just one goal from 18 league appearances last term was largely down to PSG's disappointing form – a contention backed up by his prolificacy on the international stage.

The lightning quick forward has scored goals at every youth level for France, including two absolute corkers against England Under-19s last season.

Ngog is the cousin of former Newcastle United defender Jean-Alain Boumsong.

Never seen this lad play, but if he's really quick as he's supposed to be then that's a start. It's useful to have a young, hungry striker on the bench with pace to throw on for the last 15 minutes when legs are tiring.

Babel did it well at times last season against the likes of Marseille, Besitkas and Newcastle when his pace against tired defenders really took them apart, but he may be playing more regularly from the start out wide next season.

And if Ngog's arrival hastens the departure of Kaizer's silkily skilled favourite then more's the better.

Getting rid of Kaiser and Voronin in the same transfer window is surely too much to hope for ?

As long as he's a big lad as well.

Yeah, someone who can defend the near post on corners

John if he can defend the near post and chase down hoofs forward in the last fifteen when we are ahead then he's only going to make fans of you and I.

I want to see his throw-ins-won stats before I commit to a judgement
