oakie bob
if season ticket holders on here where to give up there tickets as a protest against G&H how many of you on the waiting list would refuse the offer of a ticket as point of sticking with the SOS and general feeling against G&H
surf
it would have to be extremely well organised, everyone on the list and all the current season ticket holders would need to hear about the boycott and need to believe it was something EVERYONE was going to take part in Edited June 7, 2008 by surf
DaveLFC
Not a chance, not a hope in hell. They would be snapped up in seconds. You might as well ask fans to cut off their right hand in protest.

growler
you can forget the season ticket thing. with the waiting list as long as it is, no one would want to give up their ticket today, and never get it back for another 10 years. Focus on the match fans, and additional revenue, such as merchandise in the club shop, half time expenses, eseason etc. Bear in mind, that Rafa has been given a small budget, and that is the first area that will be cut if revenues drop from our protests. Kahnee
I would happily look after someone's for a seaon as a safeguard against changes of heart/ownership. I won't go to a single game either. Honest...

I thought the way to get G&H out is to make them feel it in their pocket. Isn't that what SoS have been saying?
Joxer
Bear in mind, that Rafa has been given a small budget, and that is the first area that will be cut if revenues drop from our protests. So then how does the shirt boycott make any sense?
Guest spk
a nice idea but enitely impractical. id be interested to know how man of the SoS lot have given it up - im guessing none at thenend of the day its largely academic. while they may shout the loudest and make some signs they will still be there every game and ultimately thats why g&h will always win
Falconhoof
id be interested to know how man of the SoS lot have given it up - im guessing none to be fair, I don't think SOS have called for a season ticket boycott have they ? This thread is purely speculative isn't it ? For the moment mass boycotts and ticket boycotts are completely unrealistic. Step away from the forums and you don't get a majority of fans interested in protesting. Its a very loud minority involved in all this and that will only change if H&G don't back Rafa with at least similar money to last year and that results in us falling further behind the top. Or if Rafa leaves, something drastic like that.
psl
Never going to get a season ticket boycott. I think a match boycott might be possible but could only really see it happening if a groundshare ever truly looked on the cards.

Rich Gobey
The concept of deny the club any revenue at all is something I'm finding hard to reconcile. Yes it hit's G&H in the pocket, but also the club, Rafa and the team. It's like hostage negotiators taking pot shots at the hostage to cheapen what the hostage takers hold. Everyone loses. I think of the merchandise boycott as a shot across the bows to G&H - it probably won't have a damning effect on the amount of money the club brings in from merchandising - but they will notice a dip - as well as the adverse publicity. It also shows that fans are willing to fight for the things we believe in - and that we can only be pushed so far. Besides we're not really denying money for Rafa and the team - money so far for new players has come in the shape of more debt or credit notes. Will
A merchandise boycott is utter pie in the sky as the majority of their sales surely come from people who aren't on forums and aren't interested in the boycott
Spike
Well this is the thing isn't it. A season ticket boycott won't work because of the list. A merchandise boycott won't work because the majority of sales comes from people not close to the issues at heart. Action like the re-posession, the dig etc is grand at raising awareness, but the locality of it and the necessary short notice means that the perception of the movement to G&H is of a few hundred and not hundreds of thousands. So what avenues are there to show these c**** we want them out?
Guest spk
pffft, its bolloks. notably almost all the peeps in teh SoS vid from the weekend were wearing tops from the new season.
Cobs
So what avenues are there to show these c**** we want them out? you need a match boycott/walk out i dunno how many are in SOS or how many of these are Season Ticket holders or even (ideally) Kop Season ticket holders but if you could get a hole of a few thousand in the middle of the Kop on a match day that's a lot harder to ignore (and organise, obviously) than a drop in pie sales or whatever Edited June 10, 2008 by Cobs
Rich Gobey
Whats wrong with massed protests after the match, endless repeated chanting of "HICKS OUT, GILLETTE OUT!!!"? It's worked at other clubs. The "Yanks out " things is a poor message though. If it were Carson Yeoung you wouldn't chant "Chinks Out", or "Pakis out" if the club were owned by the Hinduja brothers. It's an unneccesary use of their Nationality to identify them. They have names, why not use them and make it even more personal?
