Best keeper I've ever seen and always thought he seemed like a nice fella but then I just read this on the Fiver

Jolly family man Neville Southall has successfully sued his daughter for £55,000 worth of trophies. Southall gave the memorabilia to her when she was 10, but now wants them back. "I'm devastated," his daughter Sam said. "I idolised my dad. I don't know how I'll pay the costs [which amount to £5,000]."

what the f***! :o

She should put them in the bin.. He'll know where to find them easily.

I have an image of him travelling to court, clinging on the back of a bin lorry..

It was in Yesterday's Mediawatch section on Football365 but the source for it on there was the rag so I couldn't be *arsed posting it on here.

Story Of The Day

'Neville Southall left his daughter in tears - after SUING her to get back £55,000 of his trophies. The ex-Everton and Wales goalie gave Samantha, 19, his FA Cup medal and other gongs, plus international caps and his MBE, when she was ten. But Southall, 49 - who yesterday starred in an England Legends charity game in Manchester - never meant for her to keep them, a judge heard.

'Sam, whose dad walked out on her and her mum a decade ago after a string of affairs, sobbed as a "saddened" judge at Liverpool's civil and family court ordered her to return the memorabilia. The hard-up law student was also told to pay £6,000 costs She said: "I'm devastated - I idolised my dad. I don't know how I'll pay the costs." Southall, now thought to be living in Kent with a new love, was not at court. His lawyer said: "He is pleased the matter's been resolved."'

I'm still baffled by the 'Best keeper I've ever seen' comment in the first post.

how old are you Sion?

I'm 36 and remember Southall at his peak throughout the 80's and early 90's. He was absolutely brilliant, better than Schmiechel in my opinion.

I'd have said Shilton. Also I'd put Schmiechel and Clemence before Southall.

As would I - and they didn't physically block half the goal. What a c*** though. He must have poked some right slappers.

yep. He really was a superb goalie.

But I never got the impression he was a nice bloke or one of the good guys. He always seemed to me a characterless, and rather unpleasant bloke!
