Cooger Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 (edited) Would you welcome him back at Anfield in January should Rafa decide he’d be a good option? For me I think our team lacks threat upfront when Torres is injured or rotated. Therefore a player such as Anelka would be perfect. He’s used to the league, love the club when he was here, has all the attributes needed in skill, power, pace etc. This way when Torres is rotated we’ll still have a top option in Anelka who can create panic in the opposition’s defense. Not to mention when both played together they’d be pretty tough to stop as they both have such impressive all round games. I think he’d be a shrewd purchase and one that is relatively low-risk. He’s not cup tied for Champs League should we be in it. We couldn’t attract too many players in the class of Anelka and he could really add some umph to our attack. He might only be a short term solution for two or three years, but maybe that's what we need until Babel matures. Lets stop thinking about the long term and concetrate on the short term which should take care of the long term. Rafa wants to see us be pro active, well come on Rafa lets get this top class striker to give our blunt attack more edge. I’m I in the minority? Edited November 5, 2007 by Macca
crisps Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 a Torres and Anelka strikeforce would make me very happy
Cooger Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 coulda, woulda, shoulda Still could, still would and we should. The fact is when Torres is not playing we lack threat upfront. Especially as Crouch is rarely used. Kuyt and Voronin are supporting strikers not leading ones.
The_Adder Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Without a doubt I'd have him, be chuffed if we got him.
chiliking Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 But, but, but...he's supposed to be an enormous A55hole?
Magic8Ball Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 wouldnt mind anelka here even given his goals scoring record. However given his age and the cost 10m (press) then we should also look for a younger option. Long term I think we need to move Babel up to striker and get new wingers in Short term we could look at selling Crouch and getting Kenwyne Jones (Sunderland)
Boca Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Let's just bring Owen back and be done with it. Should be available and relatively cheap in January. He and Torres would be great together.
Stevie H Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Q. why is he stagnating at bolton when manyoo, arsenal, us and plenty of other clubs needed a striker in the summer? A. because he's a poisonous c*** no sensible manager will touch with a bargepole.
Leo No.8 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 (edited) I was hugely disappointed when we didn't sign Anelka in the first place. Class act on the pitch, and not as much trouble off it anymore either. I'd have him back here in a flash... Edited November 5, 2007 by Leo No.8
The_Adder Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Kenwyne Jones (Sunderland) He looks a player, has since he went on loan to Sheff Wed and scored a goal a game a few years ago. Anelka or him please in Jan, £10m for a 27 year old who is as good as him is GOOD value.
fellafeen Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 If we got in the next round of the champs league, i'd like to see berbatov, looks like he'll be available and we were all told that we are now dining at the top table!
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 He'd be a very good signing. I'd be delighted if we signed him.
IgPig Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 anelka can f*ck off. I'll add my backing to this side of the debate

Maldini Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 what's the fascination with this c***, he scores as many as Crouch and contributes nothing around the pitch
Dee Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 we should poach Drogba from Chelsea - BREAK THE BANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cooger Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 what's the fascination with this c***, he scores as many as Crouch and contributes nothing around the pitch I like Crouch. Ideally we'd have Anelka as an upgrade for Kuyt. Come on Maldini do you not rate Anelka? He's quick, strong, skillfull and scores goals. When Torres doesn't play Kuyt and Voronin aren't giving us enough threat. Redknapp said that when he was at Liverpool there was no problem with his attitude and he came across as a nice guy. I think he'd be a shrewd signing.

Dirk is in poor form and seem's to have taken on scapegoat status, but i'd much prefer him to Anelka. He's one of the most overrated players in the game. For what you'd have to pay you could get a lot better.
Cooger Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 Dirk is in poor form and seem's to have taken on scapegoat status His form has nothing to do with it. He's just not good enough and offers very little other than hard work. I said it last season but people said he needed more time.
