Woodsyla Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 A big miss on Saturday, his guile might have unpicked their defence a few times. I believe he was unavailable for religious reasons, is that correct ?
mick Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 A big miss on Saturday, his guile might have unpicked their defence a few times. I believe he was unavailable for religious reasons, is that correct ? Yes - correct about why he was unavailable . Also thought the same myself - useful to have off the bench. Although apparently he is not the saviour I said he was
honourablegeorge Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 He seems to have converted a few more too - there were seven or eight of the team not playing on Saturday.
The Hitman Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Religious reasons?Somebody should tell him the only religion there is,is Liverpool.
Stevie H Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Religious reasons?Somebody should tell him the only religion there is,is Liverpool.yes because a hundred years of a sports club clearly trumps three thousand years of beautiful tradition from moses to sandy koufax.
Gilps Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Far be it for me to stand in the way of anyone's religious beliefs, but if Momo can play through a month's worth of daytime fasting, Yossi really ought not to be put out by 24 hours worth. He needs to man up.
honourablegeorge Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 To be fair, Yossi has the look of a man who needs a good meal. A day's fasting could make him disappear altogether.

He needs to man up.it's not about fasting though. jews are not allowed to work on yom kippur.
Hassony Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 it's not about fasting though. jews are not allowed to work on yom kippur. so if chelsea were playing man u on saturday grant wouldn't have been to take charge?
Stevie H Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 so if chelsea were playing man u on saturday grant wouldn't have been to take charge?correct. grant didn't work on saturday, it was reported over the weekend.
cymrococh Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 it's not about fasting though. jews are not allowed to work on yom kippur.Oy Vey! If it's on the weekend, does it carry on to monday? Like Christmas?
Stevie H Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Oy Vey! If it's on the weekend, does it carry on to monday? Like Christmas?you'd need to ask moses or woody allen or someone. no authority i.
Duncan Disorderly Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Are they aware that most footie is played on Saturdays?
The Hitman Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 yes because a hundred years of a sports club clearly trumps three thousand years of beautiful tradition from moses to sandy koufax.Cheer up you miserable b*stard,I was only pissing about!
The_Adder Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 If you were to describe a game that Benayoon was bought for it was vs Birmingham at home on Sat when they had 10 men, the ref, the 'assistants', a man with a really FAT head and 3,000 fans in blue shirts behind the ball. The sooner religion is banned the better (especially for on days like sat).

Gilps Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 It's only once a year. The least they could do is move it to the close season then
Hassony Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 The least they could do is move it to the close season then or have yom kippur, chrismas and eid on the same day
sutty Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 or have yom kippur, chrismas and eid on the same day I suggest 25th December.
Gilps Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 or have yom kippur, chrismas and eid on the same day Then he'd be out of condition for the Boxing Day game due to not eating or training the previous day. It's Religious Tolerence Gone Mad is what it is.
downunder Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Avi Cohen played on Yom Kippur but Rosenthal refused to. It is different to Momo though, as Jews fast from sunset to sunset (in fact they go 25 hours) so they dont cut it short (I think!). whereas Muslims fast for less time each day.
Zoob Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Does anyone actually know for a fact that Yom Kipur was the reason Benayoun wasn't playing / on the bench? Could just be he was left out of the squad as with the other league games where he was left out.
honourablegeorge Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Was in the Echo, aye. Deffo the reason.
