The_Adder Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Maybe at the Toilet last season but even then I don't think we played so badly? Kuyt is probably the only one who comes out with any real credit, thought everyone else had there worse game I've seen them play in a red shirt. Felt weird seeing Finnan, Masch, Arbeloa, Torres etc play so badly. We just weren't at the races at all. Credit to Porto, they were excellent, lots of skill and superb in possession, up there with the Barca team that won it a few seasons ago in that respect, cant say Reina has all that much to do tho which is a bit weird considering, they looked a bit lost in the final 3rd, might be being a bit harsh on our defence here though. Think we'll hammer em at Anfield tho! The funny thing is I was talking to my mate and we both agree that in our opinion that was the best team we could put out bar Agger in place of Hyypia from the squad...
Coyler Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Worse than the worst Liverpool team for 30 years three years ago?
JohnnyH Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I think it's the worst we've played since.....ooooohhh.........Saturday
honourablegeorge Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Since Portsmouth? Since the first half at Sunderland? There's a good chance that we'll arrive at any away fixture with a complete and utter inability to pass the ball.
McBain Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I can take comfort in the certain knowledge we wont play worse than that all season. In Europe it's the worst we've played since probably Monaco away
The_Adder Posted September 19, 2007 Author Posted September 19, 2007 There's a good chance that we'll arrive at any away fixture with a complete and utter inability to pass the ball. Think that honestly happened last night. The 3 for 1(!?) offer at the bar made up for it, a bit
fyds Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Porto were not brilliant - we made them look good - this was illustrated tby the fact that despite having all that possession and playing against 10 men for half an hour, they did sod all with it.

Hieronymus Bosch Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 There's a good chance that we'll arrive at any away fixture with a complete and utter inability to pass the ball. Very true - a bit of a mystery really. Our away form has to improve dramatically this season. There's no reason why we should struggle on the road, given the players we have at our disposal...

We were lucky that they forgot to actually play anyone up front.
Guest Snorky Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Porto made us look a lot worse than we were, they rushed and harried us into hasty decisions and passes. If we were that poor then how come we managed to keep them at bay for 30 minutes with 10 men ? Liverpool don't win for two games and it's all over boo hoo boo hoo :shakeshead:
Dan Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I can take comfort in the certain knowledge we wont play worse than that all season. I thought that after Saturday

There's no reason why we should struggle on the road, given the players we have at our disposal... I think it took us until the week before xmas last season to get 7 points away from home, and after 3 away game, we have 7 points. So, I think our away form has already improved - unless of course, we do not win away from home again for the remainder of the season.

Listened to 606 last night, felt almost suicidal.

Guest ziggystardust Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) arsenal last season, 2-0 southampton when crouch scored againts us, countless other games away in rafas first season(newcastle, man city & brum spring to mind), olympiakos away in that season, monaco away same season, burnley fa cup. 5-0 away to coventry micky quinn game, 3-0 to toon andy cole hat trick, 3-0 away to psg. that enough for you? Kite Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) They played high up against our full backs, Babel looked a bit out of depth, Pennant in too deep, our passing generally shocking, never getting in behind their full backs where the space lay. Gerrard was pedestrian throughout and Mascherano distribution non- existent, hence we had no creative presence in the middle and missed Alonso massively. Defensively we coped, creatively we lacked. Overall, the manager gets the blame for fielding a team not equipped or prepared for how Porto played, though losing Alonso the night before may have been the biggest contributory factor to that. Worst performance? Score draw away to Porto with them never testing Reina in open play is hardly that bad a performance. Edited September 19, 2007 by Mr Kite
McBain Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I thought that after Saturday This was a whole new level of bad. As though the liverpool ladies had all grown stubble and put on wigs and decided to give the first team the night off
McBain Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Worst performance? Score draw away to Porto with them never testing Reina in open play is hardly that bad a performance. A pendant writes. Finnan's fecked up clearance in the first 5 minutes made him make a good save
Bootle Buck Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 We looked tired and certainly not up for the game. I have never seen a first 5 minutes were we literally couldn't get it out of our half. We looked half asleep. Our goal stunned Porto who looked very avearge after that. I think a harsh reality has set back in after the last two games that despite having a big squad we still have much room for improvement. We resorted back to hoofing it up field last night. It just amazes me how the likes of Pennant and Babell get a chance to prove themselves and then disappear all game.
Huyton_Red Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 It was one of those rare matches where almost every single player has a stinker in the same game
Kite Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 A pendant writes. Finnan's fecked up clearance in the first 5 minutes made him make a good saveSo, Finnan tested Reina, not Porto ...
Alonso Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 We were warned, Rafa said before the game he didn't have time to prepare anything special. (Probably didn't have the right eggs for that omlette, hey Jose!?)
McBain Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 So, Finnan tested Reina, not Porto ... Pressure on the ball caused it Something they did all night and we barely seemed arsed doing
