is it fair to say that we have the best squad in the league, with no weak points, we just managed to score 12 goals in 3 games without Gerrard and Carra, the "worst" players in our squad are probably still very good international players (riise, yossi..)

United have the likes of eagles and fletcher, chelsea have the likes of Belleti, pizzaro, Ben haim and kallou. all of these players would struggle to get even on the bench at liverpool. I think Robben is a big loss to chelsea as he was one player who could get them out of a sticky situation (when he is fit).

there is no real reason not to be able challenge for the title this season looking at our squad, anything else is a big faiulre IMO

I wouldnt be jumping off that deep end yet. Those teams have very formidable squads and would put the same arguements up. Apart from Torres, would Man Utd or Chelsea take any of our other strikers or even Arbeloa. They'll also boast about their wide men being better than the best we can offer in Pennant.

I think our back line has a weak point. Sami is very very slow and is playing people onside due to not been able to hold a high line. Derby got through us a couple of times yesterday and against better teams we may have suffered. It would have been nice to get good centre back coverage in the transfer window. However, outside of centreback we are the strongest we've been in 20 years.

I think that Man U fans would worry about their lack of firepower. They have to go through to the New Year with only Saha, Rooney and Tevez as recognised strikers, although Saha is the only one who is an out and out striker.

Chelsea will be losing Drogba in the new year for the African Cup of Nations so they're left with Shevchenko (who I reckon will leave in Jan), Pizarro and Kalou.

I am feeling quite confident about our squad depth. We just need to keep hitting the goals and keep our tempo high.

I think UTD would take any of out strikers at the minute

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say we're better than United, maybe central midfield we're stronger, but man for man, I think they're better.

I do think we're as good or better than Chelsea, though.

Only Manc players I'd have in our starting eleven are Ronaldo and maybe Rooney (not even sure about that)

chelsea have pizzaro and kallou up front, are you telling me they are better than Kuyt, crouch or voronin?, United have rooney, but I wouldn't replace Kuyt with tevez, and i would rather have crouch than saha

I dont think Chelsea are weaker than us as a squad at all, especially if you look at who's out injured. Yes they have an issue with right backs, but on mass, with their two keepers, four centre halves, two left backs, they would probably shade our defence for strength in depth.

Midfield, centrally there is nothing between us, in terms of width close, but right now I'd go with theirs with Cole, SWP and Malouda being more now.

Up front I'd not even write off such as Shevchenko, but as it stands we're probably better, but there's not much in it.

I agree that our bench will generally beat United's and Arsenal's, but I woudn't say that immediately translates to the first teams that both will play whenever they can, and which might be enough for them as has been the case before. .

Drogba and Shevchenko, as well as Pizarro and Kalou. As a foursome, is thatworse than Torres, Kuyt, Voronin and Crouch? Not sure I could call it.

Saha, when fit, as a very good player for Man U indeed, it's only Solskjaer's retirement that has left them looking short there themselves.

The mancs are a one man team, Chelsea have a better squad than ourselves but thats about it, we also had a better squad than the mancs last season but still finished way behind them in the league.

HOw are the Mancs a one man team?

I'd guess he's suggesting without Ronaldo they've been terrible. Which is true TBH. Wouldn't go as far as saying they're a one man team but they rely on him heavily, much more so than we do Gerrard IMO.

Well last season they had one man that bailed them out constantly either with a goal from himself or an assist, without him there is no way they would have won the league.

C.Ronaldo scored 17 goals and got 14 assists for them in the league last season, take him out and they will struggle big time.

Luck plays a huge part - Man Utd hardly had any serious injuries last season. And our squad was stronger than theirs even then. Yet we still finished miles behind. Having a horribly difficult fixture list at the start of last year just made it more difficult.

blaming the fixture list for last season is the lamest excuse ever.

Don't know about that, although I d agree we had our shortcomings, of which have been well aired but the fixture list led to us having no momentum or confidence as we had a few players to bed in. A lesson the manager seems to have learned.

I completely agree.

We had a terrible pre-season last summer and this continued when the season started, a lot of people voiced concerns about this at the time.

This season we have had a good pre-season and I for one saw this as a good sign for things to come.

We have those who say pre-season matches does not matter, this is something I strongly disagree with, off course they matter.
