first up, a very moving tribute at teh start of the game, i thought it was done tastefully and with dignity, well done all involved.

the match, yes, we won, it was a bit like a training session and on another night it could have been 8, we played well, pressed well, and the competition for places is really starting to get players motivated to do well.

however

what the hell is going on with the players hair? we've got yer man out of Status quo up front, i'm almost certain Bjorn Borg came on in the second half, throw in Leto and Yossi and Torres' haircut is a bit s*** too, and its all going wrong out there. i think someone at the club, i reckon it should be Pako, gets a set of clippers and gives everyone a number one all over. its just lunacy. the only one who should escape the clippers is Riise, who should get some dye, the useless ginger fecker.

i also thought Arbeloa played really well tonight, and has been playing well since he arrived. good bit of business that by Rafa

the tribute was very moving

we may have a few bad barnets but nothing to compare Chris Eagles' head which is like four haircuts in one.

Riise was dodgy again, against a terrible side. I had to hold back laughing in the face of the lad infront of me with RIISE 6 on the back of his home shirt.

Missed your 'just back from the game' threads, gread to see them back................but, ya an old fogey about the hair thing

Really, all the guys have the same 'uniform' at 'work', so how else are they going to express their individuality 'cept thru their hair?

The uniformity police have already got to young Dan Agger. He had really interesting hair when he arrived, now he just looks like a regular Joe. Boring!

I love long hair on men, so I'm quite happy at the minute with our lot :bleh:

Bah! Yer all a bunch of fogeys

I thought our right side played fantastically

The left however never got going at all. Leto didnt see much of the ball but its a bit much to expect him to have a stormer in his first competitive game. Thought he got no help from Riise who turned inside every time. I havent been one to criticise Riise previously but he annoyed the f*** out of me tonight by refusing to pass the damn ball to Leto time and again.

I've not really joined in the Riise bandwagon but he was poor tonight, his use of the ball is awful, he really needs to get his act together.

Thought Leto did alright in the first 30 minutes but disappeared after that, he looks decent though, gets stuck in too. Needs to learn how to beat the defender with a cross though :)

Agree with every word of that Wayne. Fecking Letolass FFS! And Leiva has the kind of hair an ugly girl has.

Leto, with his straight long hair, looks like one of the elves from Lord of the Rings!

blaa blaa blaa

I like the new look! I certainly prefer the look of a rock band as opposed to that of an army battalion.

Every time Riise received the ball it bounced off him and landed about ten yards away. It was shocking.

Agreed. Long hair all round. About time Stevie and Carra caught on.

I enjoyed it last night. Good tribute at the beginning.

Some of the passing from Riise last night was abysmal. Simple inside balls missing their target. He doesn't shift the ball fast enough either.

Arbeloa was brilliant although he looked fecked from 70 minutes onwards.

Thought Kuyt worked like a trojan and deserved his goals, Crouchy missed too many headers, and Masch was immense

Add Kuyt into the mix, and I would, and we've clearly got problems.

We all dream of a team of Elves, a team of Elves, we all dream of a team of Elves!

'are you Elvish?' 'no, I'm Spanish' :badoomtish:

Should Riise be admonished for nearly gifting them a goal and adopting the Wimbledon style of football, when he made a quite sublime, unforced pass up the line with the outside of his right foot ?

I didn't see that, but then again, I never pay attention to his right foot.

for me now, Arbeloa should be our first choice left back. Riise has done nothing over the past 2 years to warranet a starting place in that side

It was in the first-half.

From just inside our half up the left touchline. Fell off me f'ckin seat.

Agreed - Arbeloa has been a revelation at left-back, as he was at the tail end of last season when he played there, paticularly away at Barca. Great signing, aggresive, good anticipation and hardly ever gives the ball away.

Riise gives us more of a goal threat, but that shouldn't be why a left-back is in the side and at best I would have in the side in away games, to provide us with a bit more solidity and threat on the counter.

I’m held back judgment on Arbeloa so far as he hasn’t seemed too involved or stood out any way at all. However that’s no bad thing in terms of defending – no glaring errors and in last nights performance from what I could see he seemed very comfortable playing out there and very confident. He’s starting to remind me of Finnan – but with more to his game in terms of the positions he can cover. And as far as I’m concerned that’s a good thing. Looks like the genuine article.
