sseriously, yes he was fantastic with his movement and genius finish for the 2nd goal...but his strength is insane for someone so young..

Was getting taken down the whole game by the mexicans, didnt complain...nor ever seem to feel any injury or knock, just got up and played on..

Now yes he did dive , 2nd half when he tried to get a pen....still,after watching him a ton this season for Barca, i reckon at only 19, he is the closest we have seen to actually being as good as pele and maradona...some have come close, really close....but havent been able to touch those two...

Maybe the closest in recent years has been Ronalinihio, but surely the biggest tournaments are the greatest test, and in the world cups that ronny has played....he really has been invisible and hasnt stepped up..

Messi....i think might do that

I love his work rate, if he loses the ball he fights like a demon to get it back and he is a little b"ll"x because he is so small he can get sneak in under shoulders to nip the ball.

F"c%ing yanks have no appreciation of the current market, buy Messi !!!!

He's special alright.

I'd rather him than Ronaldinho based on the last year or so (even disregarding the fact that he's a fair bit younger).

Goofy was pretty darn good in the '02 WC.

really ?

I recall a good 55 minutes against England (well, he set up the first brilliantly and fluked the second), not much else.

what amazes (sp) me most about him is his ability to hold the ball under pressure (sp) although he is very little.no doubt he is turning into a massive player.

and his goal last night was briliant.

Kinda disagree. You forgot to mention the greatest player of the last 15 years that he would have been there for sure alongside Pele,Maradona if he hadn't lost the WC final last year.Still though one of the greatest players ever existed IMO whether he'll be judged by his overall game, which btw was second to none,or by the trophies he won.I will never forget the semi-final vs Brazil last year.He was simply magical.

Sevilla CF have signed the "New Messi" - Lucas Trecarichi

LFC were also in there but he decided to stay in Spain.

I didn't see much evidence of that when we played Barca. He's great with the ball at his feet but without it he's useless. I rarely saw him or Ronaldinho track back to help out the defence when we played them, that was a big problem for them I felt.

And yet there are plenty ready to write Arbeloa off already.
