Carlsberg has extended its partnership with Liverpool FC as Official Club Sponsor for a further three years to the end of the 2009/10 season.

Carlsberg has been the Main Club Sponsor of Liverpool since 1992, the longest club partnership in The Premiership.

"The Carlsberg and Liverpool partnership is one of the longest and most successful in football, based on trust and mutual respect," said Rick Parry, Chief Executive, Liverpool FC.

"We share a commitment to excellence in our respective fields and we look forward to building an even stronger relationship as we move forwards."

Keld Strudahl, International Marketing Director, Carlsberg, said: "Carlsberg is very determined to support Liverpool in its ambition of continuous improving the team.

"We hope to see an even stronger performance and hopefully some more trophies in the next three years. Carlsberg's continued involvement with the club enables us to jointly build on our relationships with the international fan community.

"Also, we have great respect for Liverpool FC's new owners and are looking forward to continue our good relationship with the club and further add to the strong bond that has developed with the club, players, staff and fans over the years."

The new agreement will allow the continuation of joint marketing initiatives for the mutual benefit of the club and community, as well as to utilise the partnership internationally. As Official Club Sponsor, Carlsberg receives a significant rights package ensuring a global reach including the Far East, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe markets, as well as the core markets of Western Europe.

Probably still can as I doubt the stadium will be ready before the 2010/11 season anyway and the Carlseberg deal ends 2009/10.

This is strange, I would have thought we would have scoured the world for different sponsorship with our new owners at the helm.

Our deals with Carslberg always seem to be poorer in value terms than our rivals and if it is the same again, then I think we have missed out yet again in maxmising our marketing opportunities.

Thought we were moving away from alcohol related sponsors, or is this deal supposed to be the last?

I thought alcohol sponsors were being banned...

Alcohol sponsorship on sports shirts will be banned after next year, though deals signed before then will be allowed to be completed.

Will the 2008 onwards children's shirts not have a sponsor on them then? That surely would reduce the money we're receiving.

Carlsberg is grim so I hope this isn't a sign of Parry's expectations. We should be getting sponsored by Wife Beater

Why? It's not our fault? Carlsberg will be competing with other brands who can have their names on all the shirts and will pay the same money accordingly. If they wanted to pay less as they would be on less shirts we would go with a different sponsor.

Not true, it was only the last renewal deal that was off the pace, earlier deals were some of the highest at the time.

Anyway, this news was released one, two, months ago? It will keep us sponsored up until new Anfield is available when, one would presume, a more attractive deal will be put in place.

I have no idea how much we get or what bonuses are involved but its clearly a sign of Parrys dereliction of duty.

The real question is, should he be sacked?
