Ribery

Recommended Posts

...absolutely quality, such a clever player. His finish with the outside of his right running in from the left the other week was brilliant, it totally wrong-footed the goalkeeper and practically trickled into the net.

I think he's exactly what we need, a proper wide man who can take the p*ss, play on either wing and score goals from midfield. I know he'd probably end up at Arsenal if he came over here but I'd love us to get him.

He's the kind of player who can frustrate but never stops trying, is hugely enjoyable to watch and on his day almost unstoppable. Definitely high on my wish list for the summer.

Not for me, I think they are quite different. SWP is extremely quick, Ribery isn't. The difference is his football brain and pure ability on the ball.

I like both players in their own ways but I think Ribery has the potential to be even better. If he's faced with a quick full back like Cole he's got the tricks to get past him, he doesn't just rely on speed. He can play anywhere across midfield or as a se3cond forward equally comfortably as well.

Ribery scores more goals from midfield too. Might be right about Arsenal Sabre - be interesting to know if Rafa is interested...

i'll eat my hat if he doesn't go to arsenal. ljungberg maybe hleb out, riberry new first choice wide man for them.

You follow the French footy Steve - what do you think of him?

haven't seen as much of it as i'd have liked this season but i think he's brilliant. real nuts and bolts, not a fanny merchant like cheyrou or someone, so can see him being a big success if he plays in england. got real pace and workrate and loads of creativity in him. i'd love us to get him.

Absolutely - his personality and the way he goes about the game is the clincher for me. There are plenty of talented attacking footballers in Europe who could fail here because the English game is extremely quick and tough, but I don't think he would.

Ribery's got balls to go with the ability; he's a little fighter who will get up for some more if he gets kicked rather than lose interest and hide. Him and Tevez wouldn't make us the pin up team of the Premier League, but they'd give us a hell of a lot of pace, skill and spirit going forward.

Don't know much about Ribery - saw him at the world cup and some cameo appearances - but I keep saying we need more pace in attack and people who can run with the ball -- its no good being able to pass the ball accurately 40 yards if there is no one there and quite often when we counter attack we have to wait and hold the ball looking for someone to be there - this gives the opposition time to get back into defense

Good, I'd be quite happy if Uefa put an embargo on us buying players from that s*** League.

I'd imagine Cisse has hardly put in a good word about Rafa is he's been asked either.

Anybody who listens to anything Cisse says should be immediately ignored.

at least we know there is no danger of the spice boys returning to liverpool

Where've you been, Leo ? i was the first person to mention Ribery on here about 2 years ago - well i hadn't seen anyone post his name before and there was a thread about young players.

I think he scored in the cup final on his final appearance.

Stuff I know you had him first mate, I remember you mentioning Ribery way back after an U-21s game it was I think. Was it when he scored a cracker against England U-21s? That was the first time I saw him play.

I liked the cut of his jib in the World Cup as well, but have just caught a few of his club games lately and felt moved to mention just how good he's been. As Maldini said, he fits the bill just nicely for what we lack at the moment, and I think he would probably thrive in English football.

Wouldn't have him..

Our record with French imports is nigh on disastrous. Too much money.

That's frankly a terrible reason.
