muleskinner Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Reina had dodgy spells in Spain, it shouldn't be a surprise. All keepers have them, given the right support (in the ground) and help from the coaching staff he'll be back to his best soon enough.
Guest TanMan Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Simple solution, sign a new keeper every season
Maldini Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Why are people always so eager to write off our players?
Stevie H Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Why are people always so eager to write off our players?because it can be done without thinking, like tabloid headlines.
Nebraska Red Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 and it's always easier to blame one player, ie, the keeper, than to look into things further and wonder how many outfield players screwed up to let the ball get near the goal. think about it, how many times has Reina played behind the same back 4 this season? if he's not sure about the players in front of him, he will take risks and will screw up occasionally.
Lark Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 doesnt excuse from dropping easy catches - flapping/punching at crosses - poor kick outs - ya know routine stuff for keepers.
Maldini Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 He kept 33 clean sheets last season and now two months into the season he has "lost the plot" People are just getting hysterical looking for someone to blame.
chrisbonnie Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 i personally still back Reina 100% but we have had a thing for signing international number 2 goal keepers, why didnt we ever just buy the number 1???
Rushian Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 i personally still back Reina 100% but we have had a thing for signing international number 2 goal keepers, why didnt we ever just buy the number 1??? And if the international team in question has the best two keepers in the world?
Spike Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Might just be me but last year Pepe seemed to very vocally dominant - shouting at players etc. I remember posting about how pleasant it was to see at the time, and how when I was a defender a vocal goalie was like having a fifth player across your back 4. Dunno if, and this seems to come across a lot, that Pepe now gets on really well with the rest of the team and perhaps isn't being the nasty b*****d he was?
Maldini Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I think it was a nod to historyClemence and Westerveld are the only two who could be in that category IMO and Clemence is probably our best ever (and was #1 or joint #1 for years)
madaboutlfc Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 that joke of a defence doesnt help.. pepes faults have a lot to do with that
SkippyjonJones Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 People are just getting hysterical looking for someone to blame.I'm not hysterical. I'm just blaming you.
Guest Kev Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Single Reina = Best Spanish KeeperMarried Reina = Dodgy Spanish Keeper (at the moment) SACK MRS REINA
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 i personally still back Reina 100% but we have had a thing for signing international number 2 goal keepers, why didnt we ever just buy the number 1??? Brucie was number 1.
Rimbeux Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Clemence and Westerveld are the only two who could be in that category IMO and Clemence is probably our best ever (and was #1 or joint #1 for years) Hence why I thought it was a joke
Gilps Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I'd like to think with any player we bring in we're looking at their performance with their club each week, not worrying about where they stand in the pecking order with their international team.
Mike Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 reina was shocking in that last 15 last night.genuinely think he should be dropped...but for who?
Guest Anders Honoré Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 He kept 33 clean sheets last season and now two months into the season he has "lost the plot" People are just getting hysterical looking for someone to blame. I don't think it is hysterical to say he has lost the plot. He is clearly not playing like he did last season. Being hysterical would be to despair and say we should get rid and start looking for a new goalkeeper. Sort it out, pepe.
smicer07 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Our keepers go s*** because fans start getting on their backs if they make any sort of mistake.
fred milne Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Does anyone have a link that shows the goals we conceded?
