Reina's first penalty save

Is possibly the best penalty save I have witnessed by a Liverpool keeper. It was well struck and in the bottom corner.

It beats Clem's save in the UEFA Cup Final first leg against MonchenGladbach at Anfield, and that was a corker.

cracking save. the speed with which he got down to his right was amazing.

he seems to have a knack for knowing which way to go.

now if he could only deal with crosses to the far post, pass backs from his center half and daisy cutters....

I will forgive him though.....just this once.

It was an amazing save. Wayne said to me with 10 mins to go if this goes to peno's ......it's in the bag. When it did go to peno's I was mocked when I said if Riise scores his it's all over. What I meant by that was I had every confidence in Reina saving the next one. Well knock me down with a feather I was right.

in the drama of it all the detail was missed but the moments that lead to our victory are all amazing.

the save you mentioned is indeed outstanding - crouch's volley was sublime

I don't know why but during the game I have no memory of Reina making that double save. I have blanked it out for some reason. I was watching the highlights today and I thought I don't remember that. Its rather worrying as I can't put it down to the booze as I hardly had any due the fact I was driving.

Clems v. Dinamo Dresden away in 70something is the best i've seen, but saturday was close.

thats a bit rough on him isnt it. Did you pick that up from one of the clueless match reports ;)

Cross to the far post? He was stood where he should have been stood, if he'd been stood right at the far post, people would have wondered what the fec he was doing so out of position.

Wont even bother with the pass back comment, I'll just presume yer joking, as someone else should have dealt with that :D

Right, pick your side. Stay on your feet as long as you can. Dive as hard as you can to your prefered side. You should get your hands on one or two balls. See, easy ;)

Right, some joker at the pub actually said afther the second " We'll have to do somethinga 'bout that keeper - he's just not good enough" !

Cue snide remarks from all around :D

Was there another one by Clem - away against Dynamo Dresden, maybe? - that was identical to Reina's stop?

A great save. He's just explosive off his feet. The only penalty which he had no inkling is Sheringham's, which arguably there can't be a better one!

great save & I thought it at the time. Akin to Dida's from JAR in the ECF. Right in the corner

Thats what i thought too!

Once it went to pens, i was 100% confident we were going to win it!

as far as I recall Dida picked one way and kept going to that side, whereas Pepe was making an (educated) decision on each one.

Both were fantastic saves, nothing wrong with either pens, just great goalkeeping

gerrard's pass to cissé for the first goal. just utterly beautiful. forty-odd yards, placed on a sixpence in the area between defence and goalkeeper such that neither of them could do anything about it, and even hit with backspin which held it up in the air letting cissé better judge the volley. what a ball.

Crouch's exquisite nod down, taking into consideration the length of the grass and ground level wind velocity enabling the ball to bounce up at optimum speed and trajectory for Gerrard to score the second.

the thing with it too is that they were clearly warned about moving offf the line........And Reina plays right on the rule....you have to keep at least one foot on or behind the line...i watched them in slo mo last night and he does exactly that

his reactions are lightening quick

The difference between Reina/Zamora and Dida/Riise is that a) riise's run tells the keeper exactly wherre he is puttingit and he doesnt hit the shot as hard as Zamora

the best save by a Liverpool keeper from a pen I have ever seen

Dudek's penalty save from Ravinelli away to Derby in the last minute was special as well. He was very very good in his first year.
