Vidic starts, one up front, Saha and Ferdinand on the bench.

Thats absolutely priceless

In our best season, Stevie Warnock played in as many shut outs as JAR; maybe we should have kept him ? It was about the team covering for defensive frailties. I dont want this to turn into a debate about his shortcomings; lets just applaud Ginge for his performance last night.

Just showed a Hicks interview with Sky and they spotted he was wearing LFC socks He'll have a jesters hat on next.
-
I've been one of his biggest critics, but he played his best ever game defensively last night - added a whole new dimension to his game. If he can repeat that kind of defensive ability he'll force me to admit I'm wrong about him. Well played Ginge.

This was up on the offal last night. Evety time I hear anything from this guy I fall more in love with him; if he had t*** and could cook I'd marry him. GILLETT: I'D LOVE TO BE IN KOP TONIGHT George Gillett will take his seat in the Director's Box tonight wishing he could enjoy Liverpool's bid to reach the Champions League final with the fans on the Kop. The Reds' co-chairman admits he'd love to be in the stands as the Reds try to overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit but whatever the outcome this evening, he says he's already learning about the special qualities of Kopites and is promising to join them for a match next season. "I wish I'd been sitting on the Kop the night we played Barcelona," said Gillett. "They have so much fun and anticipate and affect the outcome, which is really unusual. I'm a huge Kop fan. "I will be there on the Kop one day with my son. I tried to talk some people into letting me be there tonight, but I've been told it's not a good idea. But I'll definitely be there next season. "We're increasingly appreciative of the nature of the fans. It's all about the fans for us. The depth of their knowledge and passion is great. They love their team and it's wonderful to see. We've travelled a great deal and in Eindhoven we met many people from all over Europe, many without tickets who were determined to see their team. It was a real eye-opener. "It's amazing but it really does feel every match we've seen has been a cup final. The expectations of Liverpool are dawning on us slowly. I don't think we had any appreciation before we got here. "We'd been huge fans of the sport but didn't really understand Liverpool. Each game and each day we learn more, but it will take us years.

Terry was a right snidey, cheating ****, like most of his team last night. In the first few minutes, after a tackle from Stevie, he got up with him ok then as soon as Stevie turned his back he was making gestures at the ref that Stevie had gone into him with his elbow, when he hadn't. They have some great players, but they'll never have any class until they sort out their cheating. How they didn't get more bookings over the two legs for diving is beyond me.

One of my first thoughts last night was, after experiencing that unbelievable atmosphere, Rafa will get an open checkbook. And after two CL finals in three years, the best manager in the world, the best league in the world and a great squad we are a very attractive destination for some of the worlds bets players.

Didn't we agree to pay 12mill and they put the price up to 15mill at the last minute ?

Three huge tall German blokes squared up to me and me mate in Dortmund once trying to kick off. I kicked one square in the nuts and waited for him to go down; he didn't even flinch Shat meself. Luckily so old German bloke intervened and told them to bugger off and stop causing trouble Them were the days, blow up banana's and a Brockwurst.

Holding back - a question relating to last night
Flight replied to whitewidow 's topic in Liverpool FC
I thought the rules were now, diving = a booking ? -
Riise has always been s**** at LB. We're playing more expansive football so there areless bodies to cover for him. Last night he proved yet again he isn't good enoguh at LB for us against quality opposition. I'll put my fist through the monitor if I think about it too much but WTF was he doing when Joe COle was screaming forward to get on the end of Drogbas pass for the goal - he was trotting back at half pace with his thumb up his a***.

The Mancs remind me of us circa 1990/91
Flight replied to Flight 's topic in General Football Discussion
About 4 years, in fact since they last won the Prem. To be fair, I think its been a fair analogy for that long. Great teams declining doesn't happen overnight - it is so slow its not discernable. My points are simple really : i) their squad strength in depth is weak; ii) a fair number of their key players are coming to the end of their careers. I knew the response to this would be quite poor, but hopefully provoke some debate, after all much as I hate the b*****d Taggart has been a brilliant manager (though I reckon Queiroz is more important to them these days. BUT which of the following do people not agree with : 1. The Mancs have to do some serious spending in the summer. The last few weeks have shown they simply don't have a big enough squad as it is, without any injuries. 2. They've done well this season, but they remind me of us in 1990-91. At the top of our game, playing key players a season too long, squad not good enough and pipped to the post in the title race. -
The Mancs have to do some serious spending in the summer. The last few weeks have shown they simply don't have a big enough squad as it is, without any injuries. They are only where they are now because : i) they have had ZERO injuries all season, up to now; ii) Scholes, Giggs, Neville, Van der Saar and Ronaldo have had terrific season. Scholes (33), Giggs (34) and Neville (33) are all pushing mid thirties, VdS is 132 (actually 37) and they are looking tired. Not only do those players need replacing, but they need better squad players. They've done well this season, but they remind me of us in 1990-91. At the top of our game, playing key players a season too long, squad not good enough and pipped to the post in the title race.

f*** em. Anyone got a link to that Irish radio thing, where the bloke does the impersonation of Maureen singing with his team. Comedy genius that stuff.
-
I amongst his biggest critics but thought his all round play was much better yesterday. Poor opposition that offered no threat down his flank, mind you.

Pennant Kuyt Alonso

Damn inconsiderate that.

Certainly agree with that, but intelligence doesn't equate with common sense. Remember reading an interview with him, when he was playing for us, wondering if his all night Playstation sessions were affecting his concentration.

You think our fans are bad when we lose?
Flight replied to Paul B's topic in General Football Discussion
First time this season they have had any injuries and they are proving they haven't got the squad to cope with it. Next year Giggs, Scholes, Neville and Van Der Saar are going to be another year older and Ronaldo will have massive expecation on his shoulders. It will be an interesting season.
