  1. Does, Luis, like Xabi, have the option to buy himself out of his contract this summer, at a knock down price ?
  2. Well if he can keep Djimi and Warnock out of the starting line up he's got to be a bit special hasn't he. Special ****ing needs
  3. Howard never did have Tourettes; it was Taggart all along. It's hard not to like OM isn't it I still think you'll get through bud. Hope Valencia beat the Chavs; Rafa knows a lot more about Valencia than they do about us.
  4. Because it was a straight choice between JAR, Warnock and Djimi (and Warnock got nearly as many games and clean sheets as JAR btw). I've been saying for over two years he isn't good enough for us. When he plays at LB, Rafa assigns not one but two people to cover him when he is defending. The squad and the people playing around him have improved and are imporving massively. JAR is struggling to raise his game. Still a useful squad member but atm he is 3rd choice at LB and at LM when we have a fit squad.
  5. Quieroz calls the shots more than Taggart about how they play these days. Taggart did a pre match interview and was talking about them trying a new formation. I thought to myself, if it doesnt start with 4 end with 2 and have a 4 in the middle the drunken git won't have a clue. Scholes starting to show his age and his legs going; frustration showing through more and more from him. They are going to make the mistake we did in the early-mid 90's of trying to play our legends a season or two too long.
  6. Said it before, European Player of the Year this year will be Stevie. Not saying he does or doesn't deserve it, but I reckon it will happen. We're too tough on him. He's our captain and we couldn't have anyone better than him. Does piss me off the press that give him MoM when he obviously isn't though.
  7. Reply on the forum attached to that article : He's most likely ruptured (Torn) his Achilles tendon. He'll be out for between 4/6 months depending on how badly it was torn (partially or completely, looked partially the way he was standing on it after). He will need surgery, to stitch the tendon back together, and also reinforce it for future use. Then wear a cast of some sort for upto 12 weeks, followed by vigurous program involving physical therapy exercises to strengthen your leg muscles and Achilles tendon. It can be career threatening if a complete tear has occured, but by what I saw last night it is most likely a partial tear...
  8. Jump in a taxi at Eindoven and ask for 'Bootle please pal!'

  10. Harsh I think. That was his fourth game in ten days; he was almost certainly tired rather than not arsed and following Rafas instructions when not tracking back. The day Stevie isn't bothered in a red shirt playing a Euro quarter final I'll tie my tackle into a pretzel.
  11. I'm saying if we had a fit squad JAR would be third choice LB and third choice LM. I'm also thinking we might get a decent offer for him in the summer based on him scoring against Barca and PSV and the fact there has been talk in the past about some interest in him from Europe.
  12. JAR hasn't played at LB for a long time. Harry and Luis are injured. Gutted Aurelio is injured long term Maybe JAR will have to play there now, but I'd bet Arbeloa will be used before him. We'll buy another LB in the summer and if we get a good offer for JAR he will move on.
  13. 1. Mascherano 2. Finnan 3. Aurelio
  14. Get well soon Fab Gutted for the lad and for the team.
  15. We're bring Phil Babb back ? Must be the irishman Kev was posting about last week.
  16. West Hams next three games include Arsenal and the Chavs. Be lucky to take a point from them.
  17. United written warnings urge fans to be on guard in Rome Manchester United have moved to avert potential trouble by warning supporters of the ?real danger? of being attacked before their Champions League quarter-final, first leg against AS Roma in the Italian capital tomorrow evening. After the incidents of crowd violence in Italy in February, when a policeman was killed, not to mention the history of mayhem between English clubs and Roma in Europe, United have taken the extraordinary step of issuing detailed letters to travelling fans, warning them about the threat of hooliganism, crime and the ?primitive conditions? of facilities in the Olympic Stadium. United are taking about 4,500 supporters to Rome and a further 1,500 are expected to travel without tickets for a match that could generate a hostile atmosphere in a city famed for its culture and elegance. Fans have been urged to take the public transport shuttles to the ground and not to use the metro trains to the Piazzo Faminio, or the Pontenenni bridge, because these are the most common routes taken by Roma?s notorious ?Ultras?. The Campo de Fiori has also been singled out as a no-go area by United. Related Links * Saha fit to play Last season, three Middlesbrough fans were stabbed and ten were injured in the square during an ambush by about 80 Ultras the night before their Uefa Cup tie. Liverpool have had problems dating back to the 1984 European Cup final, when numerous stabbings were reported. Fourteen Liverpool fans were stabbed by Roma fans before and during a Uefa Cup tie in 2001. While the incidents that blighted United?s 1-0 win away to Lille in the previous round, when supporters were fired on with teargas by riot police at the Félix-Bollaert Stadium in Lens, are fresh in the memory, the death of Filippo Raciti on February 2 after Catania fans went on the rampage at a derby match against Palermo and Roma?s supporters? poor record of behaviour has put United on alert. Supporters will be kept in the stadium for 90 minutes after the match has finished. The letter read: ?Fans of other English clubs who have made their way independently to the stadium have reported on a number of occasions problems with getting back to the city centre after the game and there is a real danger of being attacked by the ?Ultra? fans of AS Roma. We realise that fans travelling independently may not wish to give up that independence, but we ask you to consider your own safety and welfare as being of paramount importance.? Greater Manchester Police are sending three officers to Rome, although there is a fear that the death of Raciti has resulted in a hardening of the Italian police?s zero-tolerance approach. Last night, Roma fans inundated websites with ominous messages about planned acts of violence, although Rosella Sensi, the Italian club?s managing director, said she did not expect any trouble. ?I don?t perceive any tension,? she said. On the pitch, United will not be helped by the absence of Nemanja Vidic, who was confirmed to have suffered a broken collarbone during the 4-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford on Saturday. United hope that the Serbia defender will be back in ?four or five? weeks, although it is unlikely that he will play again this season. Sir Bobby Charlton has hit out at Real Madrid and Barcelona for attempting to unsettle Cristiano Ronaldo. ?I think anybody associated with Manchester United would be perturbed when, a few months before the end of a very important season, someone starts to make claims for Ronaldo,? Charlton said. ?He?s our player and while he?s under contract to us I don?t think it?s anybody?s right to come and hopefully start the process of trying to change him into being one of their players.? The Times
  18. Haven't heard anyone mention Ribery - would love to see him and Aurelio on the left and Alves on the right. Marseilles look like having no chance of CL next season, I'm sure he will move in the summer. If he doesn't come to us I'd hate to see him move to another English club.
  19. I heard this on some programme on the telly two or three weeks ago. I nearly posted this then, although I'm sure it isn't the case. Maybe its changed ? As an aside, our run in is Reading (A), Man City (H), Boro (H), Wigan (H), P'mouth (A), Fulham (A), Charlton (H). Arsenal have W Ham (H), N'castle (A), Bolton (H), Man City (H), Spurs (A), Fulham (H), Chavs (H), P'mouth (A). I'd put money on the a*** finishing 4th, but if they lose v Bolton it will be squeeky bum time for them and will go to the last weekend.

    Arbeloa

Are you suggesting Riise is our first choice LB ? He hasn't been chosen there above others available for quite a while. Worth noting Arbeloa has done just as well at LB as RB. Was going to post a thread like this, stating if Arbeloa doesnt do a Josemi, Riise is now third (fourth if you count Agger) choice LB, behind Aurelio and Arbeloa. He could be the LB we've been missing the last few years. What a bargain. By the way, I'm not suggesting Agger is any way going to be a LB for us, just underlining Rafa chose him once at LB, when Riise was available. I'm pretty sure Rafa has had it trying to make Riise our first choice LB.
  21. I was disappponted the Dubai deal didn't come off. I was wrong. At this early stage I already think we are as lucky to have Gillette and Hicks owning us as they are to be with us. I imagined them sitting there today listening to us all singing Rafas name dreaming of us singing their names. They are re-assessing the stadium design because it wasn't good enough. In Gillettes words today, we want a stadium at least as good as anything in the Prem and with the existing designs it wasn't. Thats a good start for new owners.
