With Cisse, I agree at the time it appeared that we paid the market price (top end, maybe) for a goalscorer that others wanted but not with Diouf. A non-goalscoring, troublesome guy, before a World Cup, with no others bidders. At the time, I and most people I know, were completely non-plussed by both the purchase and the price.

Remember crying in 71 and 77, going ape in 86 and 89, 92 was a bit flat, 88 and 96 are complete memory wipes but 2001 still makes me pinch myself. The FA Cup is great and I'd love another final. I understand the rest for the players but this is the FA Cup and as stated above, we exist to win trophies.

The man is an inflated egotist but I thoroughly enjoy reading his articles and long may he continue. More club chairman need to grow some balls and make the FA accountable.
