  1. If it is really is the model (and I'm not saying there isn't some truth in it) then it basically gives us about two years with a player as a viable, genuinely good enough first team option before we then sell them on at the age of about 28 (which is what he said we have to do when he spoke about Diaz).
  2. We had to retire the Flounce Award (sponsored by ChaoticPrimate) after NYR did his thing
  3. We already do. Have you never been invited? Awkward...
  4. Van Dijk was 26 when we bought him. Ali was 25, soon to be 26. Salah was 25. One was bought from within the PL and one had played here before. They're probably the best and most important purchases in the last 40 years. This 'model' is a load of garbage.
  5. I'd have sacked him months ago but I don't think there is really any way he doesn't see out the season now. That means there is a chance that the season ends so spectacularly well that sacking him would be ridiculous, which would be absolutely great, but I think that is the only thing that should save him and it's so unlikely that I'm not even giving it any thought at present. It just feels like we're playing out time. Certainly the recent uptick in results - given the way we've actually played - hasn't done any more to change that than the abysmal 'unbeaten run' prior to it did.
  6. On the one hand it's quite funny how much chat there now is about how alehouse Arsenal are but on the other hand they'd be idiots to care if they win the league. I defo wasn't remotely arsed or even especially aware of people saying last year that it was a crap league. Arsenal's whole pre-Wenger history was one of boring, basic football so for anyone old enough to remember George Graham all the 'hoof' shouts were always a bit ironic. Of all the 'traditional' big clubs they probably had the weakest claim to a heritage of stylish football, in so far as it even really matters. I reckon there probably are quite a lot who quietly hate it that people are laughing at them a bit though cos they are so bound up in the idea that their intrinsic identity is that of the Wenger era. They are going to really, really struggle if they lose the league playing like this.
  7. If we're going to upgrade on him though then get the player who'll be better than he was last year.
  8. It's seemed like the obvious solution for ages in some ways but I don't think they'll do it and I'm not sure they should either
  9. Ferguson could actually play to be fair
  10. Players have bounced back from crap seasons before I'd rather he get his mojo back and stays
  11. It doesn't look good because it isn't good and it can't be written off as people just doing the obligatory booing of the opposition. City as a club are hateful cheats and they can f*** off but this has nothing to do with that. It is pure bigotry directed at Muslims daring to observe their faith publicly. The reaction should, if anything, be quiet applause - commending the decision to allow the break and acknowledging the discipline and, in respect of this, the integrity of an opponent. I'd like to think that applause would be the reaction at Anfield, regardless of us having players who would partake - a couple of years ago I'd have been confident that it would but now I don't know.
  12. Sounded like a fair chunk of the Leeds fans booed the stoppage for the Muslim players to break their fast, even though it was clearly explained on the big screens. s***house behaviour that.
  13. It didn't look clear to me that it hit his arm. If it was disallowed on field then fair enough but it felt very harsh, even taking the context out of it.
  14. Yeah, that jumped out straight away
  15. That previous set piece coach must have been really s***
  16. Always take 3 points Still so much wrong though
  17. Mental that you score 5 at home against a team in the relegation zone and the overriding feeling coming away is that it was really uncomfortable
  18. Yeah, that's my memory too. Edit - Though I was talking about Murphy's goals sorry. Oh hang on, both Murphy and Thompson scored in that game. I'm confused now. Who did you mean?
